DELLORSO RICHARD Age 79 of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 in Townview Health and Rehabilitation Center in Canonsburg. He was born on December 14, 1937 in Canonsburg to James D. and Yolanda Delfine Dellorso who preceded him in death. On November 23, 1963 he married Margaret M. Markosky who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Angelo Dellorso (Michele R.) of Mooresville, NC; and his daughters, Susan Similo of Canonsburg and Michele R. Dellorso of Nashville, Tennessee; a brother, Michael (Carol) Dellorso of Aliquippa; four grandchildren, Richard D. Similo III, Charles J. Similo, Alyssa and Gabrielle Dellorso; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to his parents are his son, Richard Joseph Dellorso who died August 12, 1989 and four brothers, James, Frank and Ferd Dellorso. MANIS THEODORE "TED" Age 91, of Ambridge, died Wednesday, October 10, 2018, in UPMC Passavant Hospital. He was born August 26, 1927, in Ambridge, PA, to the late Nicholas and Carolyn (Stephansky) Manis. He was a retired metallurgical engineer for the former Jones and Laughlin Steel Corporation. Ted was a long time member and past president of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Ambridge, and a former member of GAPA. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during World War II. Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was his wife of 61 years, Kathryn Stratakis Manis; a brother, Emanuel "Sonny" Manis; and an infant brother, Michael Manis. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Karen Manis, Pittsburgh; two daughters and a son-in-law, Carol Manis, Mt. Pleasant, S.C., and Theodora "Teddi" and Mark Adamcyzk of Allison Park; four grandchildren, Nicholas (Sarah) Manis, Elizabeth (Shayne) Stiger, Christopher Malm, and Emily Adamczyk; two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Zachary Manis; and several nieces and nephews. Ted was a loving, patient, kind and outstanding person. When any one would ask how he was doing, he never hesitated to respond, "WONDER-FUL!" He became "The Mayor" at The Haven at North Hills where he enjoyed living the past four years. ROBINSON SYLVIA MILLER Age 89, of Boca Raton, Florida, passed away October 11, 2018 due to natural causes. Her beloved husband of 69 years, Donald M. Robinson, preceded her in death. Sylvia was the loving mother of Stephen (Teresa) Robinson and Carol Robinson (Jeffrey Markel); grandmother of Abby (Mike) Foster, Leslie Markel (Felix Berger) and Richard Markel; greatgrandmother to Beatrice, William and Finnley; and sister of Morton (Maxine) Miller. Born in Pittsburgh, Sylvia was a proud Taylor Allderdice graduate and attended the University of Pittsburgh. She met the love-of-her-life Donald when he crashed a wedding while on leave from the Navy. Sylvia devoted her life to family and community. Her many philanthropic interests included board positions at the Riverview Center for Jewish Seniors, Jewish Association on Aging, Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh Youth Symphony and Pittsburgh Ballet Theater. Sylvia founded The American Friends of Israel War Disabled. She was also a long-time volunteer at Family House. Sylvia had a life-long interest in theater leading to multiple roles in the City Theater New Works Festival and Jewish Community Center productions. In recent years, she most enjoyed time with her family and her weekly lunches with a group of Pittsburgh friends residing in Boca Raton. GUERDAN ROBIN L. (LEWIS) Of Monroeville, age 78, died on Wednesday, October 10, 2018. For 54 years, Robin was the beloved wife of Edward "Guerdy" Guerdan who died this past April 27. Loving mother of Audrey (Joe) Petrick of Greensburg, and Tracy (Tom) Deen of Plum; proud grandmother of Josh, Zack, and Rachel Petrick, and Kennedy Deen; cherished sister of Carol Richards of NY. Robin is also survived by loving brothers-in-law, sistersin-law, nieces and nephews. Prior to her marriage to Ed, Robin was a flight attendant with TWA, which stimulated her passion for traveling. TUMBAS JOAN F. Of Mt. Lebanon, formerly of Alexandria, VA, died peacefully October, 12, 2018 after a journey with ovarian cancer that was diagnosed on December 18, 2013. Her challenges with cancer began when her surgeon, Joseph L. Kelley, MD, operated on her January 6, 2014. Dr. Kelley, a gynecologic oncology specialist from Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC, formed an instant connection with similar knowledge of the Jersey shore. Joan's family is grateful for all the compassionate and caring staff from each of the UPMC medical facilities who treated and comforted her. Joan is especially fond of those individuals on 5800 at Magee-Womens Hospital. Joan grew up in northern New Jersey surrounded by strong family traditions and childhood friends that will never be forgotten. She spent her summers at the shore and loved the smell of the salt air. Joan received a degree in education from Wheeling College and taught elementary education in the Alexandria City Public Schools. She had wonderful and meaningful friendships with so many teachers. Joan left the classroom after the birth of her second child, and in 1993 moved permanently to Pennsylvania to be with her husband. who worked with the Pittsburgh Pirates. The family remained in Mt. Lebanon after her husband took the position as head athletic trainer with the Chicago Cubs in 1986. Joan's second career as a real estate agent for the Howard Hanna - Mt. Lebanon Office began in February 2001. Being an agent fit right into Joan's love for meeting new people, home furnishings and decorating. She had the best of times with the Hanna Girls. Joan is survived by her husband of over 30 years, David G. Tumbas; and her two children, Peter of Pittsburgh, and Caroline and husband, Burke Edwards, of Greensboro, NC; also surviving are brother, Peter J. Frederiksen of Brielle, NJ and Stuart, FL; brotherin-law, Peter G. Tumbas and wife, Kim, and their daughters, Sara, Emma, and Eliza of Valparaiso, IN; as well as her many cousins, nieces, and nephews whom she dearly loved. Borish, who died on March 2, 2012. She was a graduate of Plum High School in 1954 and a homemaker who held her family very dear. She especially loved spending time with her four grandchildren and two great-granddaughters, attending their activities and celebrating holidays and birthdays with them. She was an avid reader and fan of true crime stories. She was also a member of St. Januarius Church, Circolo Febo of Renton, and previously ACME Club and Eagles in New Kensington. LaDene is survived by sons, Richard Borish of New Kensington and Gerry (Laura) Borish of Strabane; three grandsons, Henry J. "Jake" (Jessica) Borish of Munhall, Niko and Jorma Borish of Strabane; one granddaughter, Grace Michelle (Devin) Sturms of Odell, Illinois; and two greatgranddaughters, Ruby Lynn and Lucy Dene Sturms; one brother, Daniel Gilmore; and two sisters, Kathi Biondich and Dana Demko, all of Plum Borough; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends; she was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Michael Borish; brother, James Gilmore; and sister, Colleen Schultz. Friends are being received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the STEPHEN P. DOLENCE, JR. FUNERAL HOME, INC., 1519 Renton Road (Plum Borough). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, October 15, 2018, in St. Januarius Church. Burial will be in Plum Creek Cemetery.
