DORMAN KATHRYN KITTY L., PH....
DORMAN KATHRYN KITTY L., Ph.D. Of Jupiter, FL passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, after a battle with breast cancer lasting nearly 30 years. She is survived by her husband, James (Lynch); daughter, Krista (Lynch); mother, Virginia; and brother, Frank. Kitty was born on February 3, 1957, in Pittsburgh, PA to Franklin and Virginia (Wesley) Dorman. She graduated from Elizabeth Forward High School and the Pennsylvania State University, and earned her Ph.D. in Economics from Boston College. Kitty taught as an Associate Economics Professor at Boston College and at the College of the Holy Cross. Kitty moved to Florida in 1995. She loved her home and spent years improving it to make it more personalized and inviting, forming many new, lasting friendships along the way. She was also very fond of her neighborhood, which she frequently walked with her family and beloved dog, Bandit. Her care for her home, coupled with her resolve to preserve the charm of her community, led her to run for the board of directors of the Northfork Homeowners Association, which she served on as president for a period of time. Kitty enjoyed being physically active and participated in ladies team tennis for many seasons. She also enjoyed the arts and was an annual contributor to the Raymond F. Kravis Center. Kitty was a voracious reader and regular visitor to the Palm Beach County Library. She loved to go to concerts and was an avid Penn State Nittany Lions and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Kitty's loved ones will always remember her vivacious spunk and determination, not only to advocate for causes she believed in, but also to overcome the disease she fought against so bravely. Kitty epitomized the selflessness central to her character through her unofficial mentorship and guidance for many other cancer patients who she 'took under her wing,' acting as a big sister of sorts. Kitty was unwavering in her positivity and courage, finding the strength to support others as if she was not facing the same daunting obstacles herself. She was extremely close with her immediate family, who will forever miss her fierce loyalty, cunning sense of humor and intellect, and never-ending kindness, compassion, and generosity for those she loved. Kitty was a truly authentic, unique, and genuine woman, and she is, and always will be, missed terribly. A Celebration of Life memorial and tribute for friends and family is scheduled for Saturday, December 9, 2017, at Kitty's home at 24 Victorian Lane, Jupiter, FL from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. A brief ceremony will be held at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of food or flowers, memorial contributions by check may be made out to Friends of the Palm Beach County Library System and designated to the Kathryn L.
