HOLBERT CHARLES R. “BUCK”, Jr. Died on September 2, 2017. Born April 14, 1945, in Clifton Forge, VA to C. Rob Holbert, Sr. and Anne Ethel (Mollohan) Holbert. He is survived by daughter, Elizabeth Anne (Betsy) Holbert Trively; son-in-law, Martin; granddaughters, Clare, Anna, and Mia Trively, all of Roswell, GA; and a sister, Sue (Fred) Riley; nephew, Mark, all of Keyser, WV, and niece, Brenna (Mike) Dennis, of Richmond, VA. A 1963 graduate of Spencer High School in WV, he was a 50 year resident of Pittsburgh, having earned Masters' degrees in Business Administration and Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh. He used these degrees in his work in Healthcare Administration. Restoration of his 1900s South Oakland home was a major passion over the previous 10 years, one significant achievement the beautiful lawn with ivy beginning a climb up the fence. A special place in his heart was reserved for his family, friends, neighbors, and feline rescues. His remains are buried in Penn Forest Natural Burial Park with a new maple tree to support the restoration of the forest. KOONTZ TIMOTHY J. Age 72, of Monessen, died Wednesday, September 13, 2017 in Monongahela Valley Hospital in Carroll Township. He was born January 30, 1945 in Pittsburgh; a son of the late Earl and Ruth Dettlinger Koontz. Mr. Koontz was retired as foreman with the former R.G. Friday Masonry Company in Pittsburgh. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was a 50 year member of Bricklayers Local #9 in Pittsburgh. Surviving are his wife, Karen Lawrence Koontz; a son, Mike Koontz and his wife, Sherie of Canonsburg; a daughter, Lori Chasko and her husband, Mark of Finleyville; a brother, Raymond Koontz (Joyce) of Ridgefield, CT; a sister, Sandy Koontz of Finleyville; six grandchildren, Michael, Jr., Justin, Lauren, Alicia, Courtney and Kalie; two great- grandchildren, Brayden and Hailey; and many nieces and nephews. EMMICK PATRICIA ANN (SIMCO) On Wednesday, September 13, 2017, Patricia Ann (Simco) Emmick, age 71, of Pitcairn, originally from Liberty Boro, went home to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Calvin Emmick. She was the loving mother of Stephen (Christine) Emmick, John (Mandy) Emmick, and Matthew (Jen) Emmick; grandmother of Sarah, Hannah, Norah, Jessah (Stephen), Lukas, Kalianna (John), Gracie, Jack, Izzy, and Markus (Matthew). She was also preceded in death by her mother and father, “Jennie” (Gabersek) and Stephen Simco. She was a lifelong member of St. Michael's Church. “Pat” didn't just say she loved you, she made you feel loved to the core with an unconditional certainty and showed her children how to do the same. Thank you God for sharing her with us for a little while. We will miss her reminders to “drive safe” and her sweet gentle kisses on the cheek. “Laku noc,” 'til we see you again mama. He was employed by the Boro of Plum as a mechanic and truck driver. He enjoyed farming, bingo, but his true love was gardening and sharing with relatives and friends. Charles was the social butterfly of the community. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Sophie (Marunich) Dautovich; a son, Douglas (Julie) Dautovich, of Plum; a sister, Irene Galzerano, of MD; also many nieces and nephews. Born Jan. 29, 1934, to the late John and Catherine Christina (Stockman) Lockhart. She was a member of Dallas Pike Baptist Church, Dallas, WV, and a 15 year employee at Wheeling Hospital. Bea enjoyed camping, making the yearly trip to the Canfield Fair, family, friends, bluegrass, and her beloved dog, Bumbles. Survived by children, Resi Lee (Timothy) Fiedler, of Coraopolis, Aletha Jean (Kris) Brinlee, of Junction City, KS, and Michael B. Haney, of Martins Ferry, OH; eight grandchildren, Samuel (Angie) Kirkland, Shavon Wiselka, Lynn (Brad) Burrows, Matthew Kirkland, Timothy (Angela) Fiedler, Jr., Jon Haney, Nicole (Michael) George, and Kaiden Haney; and 15 great-grandchildren. CLEAVER HOLSTEIN DeHAVEN III On August 20, 2017, after a brief stay in the hospital, Holstein DeHaven Cleaver III passed away at his home into the merciful arms of his one and only Savior, our Lord Jesus Christ. Born August 11, 1946, in Philadelphia, PA, he grew up in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, the eldest of six children in a deeply Christian family. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he participated in student government and was a member of the rugby team. A loyal Tar Heels fan, he retained an abiding interest in both politics and sports for his entire life. After graduation, he moved to Nantucket Island, MA. There, after learning from Island craftsmen the skills for all phases of home restoration, he eventually started his own consulting and restoration business, Bellwether Associates. At the same time, he became involved with The Theater Workshop of Nantucket and performed in a number of plays and musicals. Later, when he moved to Pittsburgh, PA to be closer to his family, he continued to work in the restoration business. He leaves behind his former wife, Kathleen F. Cleaver; two children, Suzannah K. Cleaver and Brendan Pickell Cleaver (Lauren); and two granddaughters. He is survived by his five siblings, Boyd Cleaver (Charyl), Janet Patterson (Carl), William Cleaver (Julia), John Cleaver (Lisa), and Julie Cleaver; as well as seven nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Drs. Holstein DeHaven Cleaver, Jr. and Betty Pickell Cleaver. A memorial mass will be celebrated Monday, September 18, 2017, at 10 a.m. in St. Bernard's Church, Mt. Lebanon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Clara M. (Altfather) Sarver; brothers, Edgar, Robert and Glenn Sarver and sisters, Olive Jones and Vera Deist.
