LACEY WALTER JOSEPH A resident of the Southwest Veterans Center, Highland Dr., Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 23, 2015. Walter is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Heather Caldwell of Eagle River, Alaska; and two grandsons, Ian and Declan Caldwell; older brother, William Stephen Lacey of Florida; younger brother, James of North Carolina; and younger sister, Patricia Zavesky of Florida. A Mass honoring Walter will be held on September 4, 2015, at 10 a.m. at Saint Paul's Cathedral in Oakland. The interment of his cremains at the family plot in St. Martin's Cemetery in the West End follows the Mass. Mr. Lacey graduated from Mount Lebanon High School in 1967 and attended Mount Saint Mary's college in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Walter volunteered to serve in the US Army during the Vietnam War era and was honorably discharged in 1970. Walter is dearly missed by his family and all who knew him. SALOPEK JOHN F. Of Ambridge, died peacefully on Saturday, August 29, 2015, at age 93. He is survived by his daughter, Laurie of Economy Boro; and was the devoted husband of 58 years to the late Henrietta M. (Zierenberg) Salopek. John was born and raised in Ambridge, PA, the eldest son of Mildred (Turkalj) and Steven Salopek. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Steven and Matthew. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Ruth and Nancy; along with several nieces and nephews. John retired from the US Army as a CW2 in 1976 after 32 years of service. He served proudly in World War II, Korea and Vietnam as an electronics and communications specialist. His career took him to the far east, as well as Germany and Texas.
