SCOTT SHEILA W. Of Gulf Stream, Florida, 87, died on March 9, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Tracey Bowman and her beloved husband, R Stewart Scott. She is survived by her three sons, J. Hunt Bowman III, his wife Judy, Timothy W. Bowman and Bradford L. Bowman, two grandsons, Stewart Hunt Bowman, his wife Melissa, Trevor W. Bowman, great grandson William Bowman and great granddaughter, Josie Bowman. Through her marriage to R. Stewart Scott, she is survived by four step children, Lindsay Scott, Robert S. Scott Jr., Johnsie Irwin, her husband Larry, and with great affection, Gordon A. Scott as well as granddaughter, Joanie Scott Maxwell, her husband Warren and four adorable great-granddaughters. Sheila is also survived by her brother, Harvey Ladew Williams, III., and her devoted housekeeper Beverly. Sheila was born in N.Y.C. and was raised in Greenwich Conn. and Edgartown Mass. (Martha's Vineyard). She attended Greenwich Academy and graduated from St. Mary's Episcopal School in Burlington N.J. After her schooling years she studied music and voice, playing the piano and singing. Her two sons Brad and Tim and daughter Tracey also followed their Mother's love of music and are great talents. Sheila was very proud of her heritage which dated back to The Mayflower and with the help of her father Harvey Ladew Williams, Jr., was able to go back to Zoeth Howland, (1636- 1676) who would have been her 8th great grandfather. Also of great interest was Grinnell Willis, with much family history in New Bedford, Mass and Rhode Island. She enjoyed stories of her cousin, Harvey Ladew, his topiary gardens in Baltimore and his life in Delray Beach, and the wonderful tales of her Aunt Hannah Locke Carter skiing in the first Olympics, just before World War II. Sheila's married life took her to Pittsburgh, PA married to Joseph Hunt Bowman Jr. who is the father of her four children. Then she says she married the love of her life, R. Stewart Scott. They were married 38 years at his death in 2001. She became very interested in Pittsburgh and was involved in many charitable organizations including, the Woman's Com. of the Shadyside Hospital, West Penn Hospital, Junior League, Kinder Garden Club, Children's Adoption Home and Cub Scout Den Mother. Sheila enjoyed tennis, golf, fishing, skiing, sailing, working in the garden, plus time spent with her husband and family. She and her husband had many interesting trips in the USA, Great Britain, and Europe. Often these trips included their children. She was a member of the Fox Chapel Golf Club (in Pittsburgh PA), The Little Club, The Gulf Stream Bath and Tennis Club and St. Andrew Club (all in Delray Beach, FL). Her later years were spent in Gulf Stream, FL where she Stewart spent winters beginning back to 1976. They enjoyed those years making friends and playing sports, playing lots of bridge, always welcoming family and friends for visits. Shelia was a great support to people with cancer. She had suffered with breast cancer in 1976 and lung cancer in 2001.I want to stay above ground she would say. Always there for her friends, with great words of encouragement. Sheila was a loyal, giving friend, and a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt to her family. She will be missed but not forgotten. A reception to celebrate the life of Sheila W. Scott will be held at the St. Andrews Club in Gulf Stream following a memorial service at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Delray Beach, FL at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 16, 2017. Marie had been employed as a nurses aid at McGee Women's Hospital, Pittsburgh, Central Supply at New Kensington Hospital and as a cafeteria worker for the Kiski Area School District. She is a current member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Gilpin Township and had been a former member of St. Martha's Church in Leechburg and a member of St. Anne's Guild. She was a member of the Allegheny Township Community Club. She enjoyed dancing, watching the Pirates, shopping, baking, vacations to the shore, bus trips with family and friends and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivor's include her daughter Patricia (William) Sniegocki of Baldwin Borough; and her son Cedric J. (Sarabeth) Stopansky of Oklahoma Borough; and a brother Stephen J. Pityk of West Leechburg; three grandchildren, Michelle Brace, Michael (Michelle) Sniegocki and Joseph H. A retired airplane mechanic for the Pennsylvania Air National Guard and a parishioner of St. Clare of Assisi Parish in Clairton, Jim was in the military for 39 years and served in World War II in the US Navy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Zelinda (Vitelli) Arillotta, to whom he was married for 62 years; his siblings, Josephine Kushner, Rose Sgroi, and Tony, Angelo, John Arillotta; and his granddaughter, Gabrielle.
