VEVERKA JAMES “BOB” ROBERT James “Bob” Robert Veverka, age 91, of Richland Township, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2017. Born July 7, 1925, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late James J. and Helen Veverka. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a plumber for 35 years with Union Local #27. He was a member of St. Richard Roman Catholic Church and the American Legion. Bob collected stamps and coins. He loved to garden. He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Margaret (Brill) Veverka; daughter, Deborah Kubas and her husband, Edward, of New Port Richey, FL; son, Gregory J. Veverka, and his wife, Mary, of Hudson, FL. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Timothy and his sister, M. Janet Gustaitis. HINCE SUSAN MARIE SKOSNIK Susan Marie Skosnik Hince, 58, of Wake Forest, NC, passed away on January 31, 2017, due to complications with ALS. Sue was born in Pittsburgh, PA on November 1, 1958. She graduated from Carlynton High School and continued on to receive her bachelors' and masters' degrees from The University of Pittsburgh. Sue was married to Timothy Hince on October 29, 1983; they were married 33 years. Sue worked as a Social Worker for Allegheny County Children and Youth Services, Allegheny Intermediate Unit and Wake County Public Schools. She enjoyed going out into the community and reveling in the company of people. She was also actively involved in Backpack Buddies, Girls On The Run and a variety community activities for the benefit of children. Sue is survived by her husband, Timothy; daughter, Kelly; son, Gregory; sister, Kathleen Skosnik Dunmyre; brother, Richard Skosnik; mother, Adda Skosnik; and other family and friends. Sue was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Skosnik. The family will hold a private memorial service. There will be a celebration of Susan's life, held in Pittsburgh, Saturday, March 4, 2017. BOOTH CLARENCE D., Jr. Clarence D. Booth, Jr., of McKeesport, died Feb. 10, 2017. Born Sept. 26, 1938, he was the son of the late Clarence Booth and Virginia (Nelson) Booth McLaughlin and husband of 45 years to Ann (Lukondi) Booth. Clarence was a member of the National Maritime Union and retired from Consolidation Coal Co. (Consol Energy) after 26 years as a deckhand on their towboats. He is survived by his wife; sons, Jerremy, Joushua (Pam), Terry Lee and Charles; brothers, Larry (Darlene), Daniel (Judy), Donald (Phyllis) and Gary Nelson McLaughlin; sisters, Darlene Borelli, Ailene Freudenvoll (John), Judy (Richard) Laney; grandchildren, Matthew, Jr., Rachel, Elizabeth, James Moller and Isabella; great-grandchildren, Mina Redman, Kaleb Yates and Natalia Fredrick; cousins, nieces and nephews. RENGERS MARGARET ANN (COYNE) Age 93, died on Sunday, February 12, 2017, in Oakmont. Margie had resided in her beloved home in Swissvale for 60 years with her loving husband of 68 years, Ed. She was born on September 19, 1923. Margie was very devoted to her church and parish, St. Anselm/Word of God. She worked tirelessly with the flea market every year for the annual festival and also in the parish library and gift shop, along with other wonderful ladies, including her much missed friend, Blanche Goldbach. They all shared many happy hours together there. Margie absolutely adored and loved her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. As an only child, her family, friends and neighbors were always very important to her. Beloved husband for 27 years of Tina (Ray) McAndrew; loving father of Devin, Zach, and Mason McAndrew; dear brother of Janet Marie (Ron Schwoegl) McAndrew, Jeff (Colleen) McAndrew, and Jonathan McAndrew; son-in-law of Jack Ray and the late Viola Ray; brother-in-law of Delores (Albert) Stanton, Mike (Sharon) Boyd, Jody (David) Bassaro, Peggy (the late Jeff) Ray, Tracy (Bob) McEvoy, John (Brenda) Ray, Ed (Joni) Ray. GREER CATHERINE ANN Known to friends and loved ones as Katie Greer, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2017, at the Canterbury Place Hospice in Lawenceville, PA. At 62 years of age, Katie was in the prime of good health when she suffered a traumatic brain injury and subsequently experienced a massive stroke from which she could not recover. An elementary music teacher and skilled vocalist, Katie was dedicated to the children in her care, hoping to instill in all of her students a love of music. Katie was also an accomplished horsewoman, and she raised and trained horses on her small farm in Beaver County, PA. Passionate about the need to preserve the earth, Katie had begun to direct her attention and energy to political advocacy and environmental preservation issues. Independent, intelligent, creative and thoughtful, Katie touched many lives with her kind and relentless spirit. She is survived by her beloved spouse of 26 years, Barb Tervo. She was predeceased by her parents, Mary Alice and James J. Greer. She is also survived by nine sisters and brothers, Mary (Bill) Greer Landon, James (Liz) Greer, Martha (Jim) Greer Hollihan, Patricia Heyl, Lawrence (Michele) Greer, Agnes (Dennis) Haggerty, Margaret Greer, Judith (Thomas) Brooks and Joseph (Aggie) Greer. HASELTINE ANNE WHITLINGER HANKS Age 92, of Stuart, FL formerly Point Breeze, passed away peacefully February 12, 2017. Born April 25, 1924, she was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin W. Haseltine. Mrs. Haseltine attended Duke University and the University of Pittsburgh where she earned her Bachelor's Degree; she received her Master's in Education from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Fraternity, East Liberty Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh, Peace Presbyterian Church in Stuart, FL, and Miles Grant Country Club in Stuart. Mrs. Haseltine taught Kindergarten in Pittsburgh Public Schools and was one of the first teachers to implement the Heard Start Program into the curriculum. For many years, she and her husband were owners/operators of White Mountain Ski Area in the Laurel Highlands. Both family and friends have many fond memories of weekends spent up at “The Mountain”. She will be remembered as a vibrant, loving, and caring wife, mother, and grandmother who was loved by all who knew her. She is survived by her two sons, Fred (Eileen) Hanks of Gibsonia, PA and Scott (Margaret) Hanks of Raleigh, NC; five grandchildren, Travis (Missy) Hanks, Tanner (Chase) Hanks, Andrew Hanks, Lindsay (Ryan) Richards, and David Hanks; and two great- grandchildren, Conrad Hanks and Brody Richards. (Perevuznik) Durmis who he deeply missed since her death on December 14, 2014. Loving and proud father of Dennis G. (Sheila) Durmis, Jr. of North Huntingdon, Cindy (Angelo) Bonacci of Irwin and Jeff Durmis of Elizabeth Twp.; cherished grandfather of Natalie, Christine and Anna Durmis and Kayla Bonacci; brother of Jerry (Julie) Durmis of Boston, Rege Durmis of Monroeville and David Durmis of Turtle Creek. Dennis earned his Associate's Degree from Point Park University and also attended St. Vincent College. He was a 20-year employee of Precoat Metals in McKeesport and retired as their Controller. Father Rosso was born October 27, 1927 in Lambertville, NJ. He professed his vows as a member of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit on August 22, 1949 at Holy Ghost Novitiate in Ridgefield, CT and was ordained to the Priesthood June 3, 1954 at St. Mary's Seminary, Ferndale in Norwalk, CT. Fr. Rosso was first appointed to St. Benedict the Moor Parish, Detroit MI from 1955-1958 and then Sacred Heart Parish, Detroit until 1961. In succeeding years he ministered at St. Edward, New Iberia, LA and Our Lady of Guadalupe in Bakersfield, CA. He was Administrator of St. Augustine, Isle Breville, LA from 1969-1970. From 1971-1991 he was pastor of Holy Ghost Parishes in Marksville, Opelousas, and New Orleans, LA. From August 1991-1997 he was Pastor at Holy Redeemer in San Antonio, TX. He was then named Pastor of St. Anthony, Natchitoches, LA. He obtained retirement status in 2001 and was in residence at Spiritan Retirement Homes in Hemet, CA and in Bethel Park, PA since 2009. Fr. Rosso was preceded in death by his parents, Norbert T. and Reba Oblinger Rosso; and his brother James. He is survived by eight nieces and nephews and many grand-nieces and nephews. There will be a memorial Mass in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel at the Spiritan Center, 6230 Brush Run Road, Bethel Park on Wednesday February 15, 2017 at 9:00 am. Burial will take place at the Spiritan Cemetery, Bensalem PA on February 25, 2017. In memory of Fr. Rosso donations may be made to the Congregation of the Holy Spirit designated for retirement or for the educations of future Holy Spirit Fathers and Brothers, 6230 Brush Run Road, Bethel Park PA 15102.
