Mr. Hergenroeder was born on Jan. 11, 1920, in Allegheny County, PA to the late Sylvester Hergenroeder and Clara Roose Hergenroeder. He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army where he received a Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart Medal. Mr. Hergenroeder was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Meny Hergenroeder and by a grandson, Forrest Fields. PELAIA BRUNO J. Age 85, of Ambridge, died Saturday, April 9, 2016, in Paramount Senior Living at Cranberry. He was born July 14, 1930, in Beaver Falls, PA, to the late Ralph and Filippina Torquato Pelaia. He was a graduate of Rochester High School, Geneva College and received his Master's in Education from the University of Pittsburgh. He taught social studies and history in the Quaker Valley School District retiring with 37 years of dedicated service. Bruno was a member of Good Samaritan Catholic Church, and served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. His passion in life was his love and dedication to his family and extended family. He deeply cared for his sons, daughter- in-law; and granddaughters and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He will forever be remembered by his loving wife of 47 years, Mariannina D'Urso Pelaia; two sons, David and Jennifer Pelaia of Mars, and Ralph Pelaia of Ambridge; two grandchildren, Isabella and Kaitlyn Pelaia; two sisters, Stella (Steve) Skeba of Lower Burrell and Elizabeth Valentine of Clifton, NJ; sister- in-law, Rachael Progoggio of Edgewood; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Caesar and Nadine D'Urso of Mission Viejo, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were an infant son, Christopher; his brother and sister-in-law, Samuel and Louise Poulos Pelaia, and two brothers- in-law, Salvatore Valente and Geno Progoggio. Intelligent, vivacious, and hardworking, Helen was a creative and skilled entrepreneur who always maintained a rich sense of humor. She owned and operated her own travel consulting agency, and became a world traveler and dedicated travel agent to countless throughout Pittsburgh and across the United States. Her greatest loves were preparing dinner for her family, making new friends, sharing her many interests and caring for her King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, named Charley. An unstoppable force, Helen was widely known as a formidable tennis player, a superb Chef and a passionate player of MahJongg. Always a lover of fashion, her specialty was designing and creating women's hats. She was an active member of the Beth Samuel Synagogue of Ambridge, PA, Temple Sinai of Squirrel Hill, the Newcomers Club of Sewickley, PA, and the Edgeworth Cub. A steadfastly devoted mother, wife, and companion, she will be greatly missed by all.
