LYLE ROBERT D. On Sunday, February 14, 2016, age 95, of Sherwood Oaks, Cranberry Twp., formerly of Squirrel Hill, Peters Township and Chadds Ford, PA. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on September 25, 1920, he was the son of the late William H.H. and Margaret R. Dittman Lyle. He was a graduate of Taylor Allderdice High School and Carnegie Tech (Carnegie Mellon University). After graduating from Carnegie Tech in 1942, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army Corps of Engineers. He was deployed to Australia, and then to the New Guinea and Philippines theaters of operations. He was awarded the Bronze Star in 1945 for Meritorious service in the Philippines Campaign. After his active duty in World War II, he continued to serve in the U.S. Army Reserve and retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel after 24 years of service. Robert had been a metallurgist for U.S. Steel in Pittsburgh. He was V.P. of Eastern Coal and Coke, a subsidiary of Westmoreland Coal Company. He was a 55-year member of Dravosburg-Homestead Lodge F. & A.M., the Blue Lodge and the Syria Shrine and Consistory. Husband of the late Joan L. Weisbrod Lyle; father of Jeffrey Lyle of Cabot, Jonathan Lyle (Sherrill Jean) of Manakin-Sabot, VA, Jason Lyle (Kathylynn) of the Dominican Republic and Jay David Lyle (Maureen) of Cranberry Twp.; grandfather of Jennifer, Peter, Duncan, Courtland, Robert and Maureen; great-grandfather of Aili; and brother of the late William Lyle, Jr. Friends are invited to a Memorial Service in the Auditorium at Sherwood Oaks, 100 Norman Dr., Cranberry Twp., PA on Saturday, February 27, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the MS Society. Born July 18, 1926, in Clairton, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Elizabeth (Carr) Chaputa. A retired waitress and cook for US Steel Clairton Works' Superintendent Dining Room, Helen was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish and the CFU Lodge #248, both in Clairton. She joins her husband, the late George Medved, who passed away in June of 1990. GENERALOVICH BORIS Tuesday evening, February 16, 2016, our beloved father, grandfather, brother and uncle was peacefully welcomed by God into his eternal home. Boris was born on October 21, 1918, in Farrell, PA. He was the son of Toma and Magdalena Generalovich, who came from Serbia to the United States in 1912. Boris graduated from Hickory High School in Hermitage, PA. His passion and determination to be educated was interrupted by World War II, and after attending four different universities, Boris completed his BS degree at the University of Pittsburgh in 1947. One of the “Greatest Generation” Boris was a World War II veteran who proudly served his country in the US Army in Guam and was awarded several ribbons, medals, and a Bronze Service Star. Boris worked for over 35 years for Kaufmann's as a buyer for the downtown Pittsburgh department store. At Kaufmann's, Boris met his wife of 50 years, the former Margaret Dolan of Pittsburgh. Boris devoted his life to his family and served God faithfully as a member of the Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, Pittsburgh, PA, where he served on the board. He believed with all his heart of the importance of upholding the traditions and values of his family and of his Serbian heritage. Boris was an avid sports fan, an ardent supporter of the Pittsburgh professional sports teams, the Pittsburgh Panthers, and the athletic endeavors of members of his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; and brothers, Bronko, Alex, and Milosh. Boris is survived and will be greatly missed by his two sisters, Bertha Hopkins of Hendersonville, NC and Nadine Kramerich (George) of Cleveland, Ohio; his beloved and devoted son, Dr.Thomas (Nancy) of Pittsburgh; stepson, John Schirra (Eleanor) of Scottsdale, AZ; grandchildren, Matthew Generalovich (Samantha), Pittsburgh, Mark Generalovich, Charlotte, NC, Natalie Generalovich, Trabuco Canyon, CA, John Eric (Stephanie) Schirra, Valencia, CA, Alexandra (Rob) Pyfer, Scottsdale, AZ; great- grandchildren, Easton and Miles Schirra, Skyla Pyfer and Olivia and Sophia Olson. REICHERT DOUGLAS AUSTIN, Sr. Died peacefully, after long illness, on February 14, 2016, at his home in Pittsburgh, PA. He was 86. He was born and raised in Erie, PA. Mr. Reichert graduated from The Northfield Mount Hermon School, where he excelled in swimming and lacrosse. He attended Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA, where he met his beloved wife, Martha Dewar. He studied business, was on the swim team and was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. He graduated in 1951, enlisted in the US Air Force and married Martha Dewar. After their honeymoon they began their married life, stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. Doug had a distinguished business career in the insurance industry. He had a broad knowledge of the industry with an expertise in Marine Insurance due to Pittsburgh's position as the the number one inland port in the country. He was president of the Propeller Club. He started his career with The Travelers and Chubb Insurance Companies and spent the majority of his career with Henderson Brothers Insurance. He was a member of the Duquesne Club, The Edgeworth Club and Shannopin Country Club. Doug was predeceased by his parents, Chester and Bernice Austin Reichert; and by his brothers, Chet and Bill. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Martha Dewar Reichert; and his son and daughter- in-law, Douglas Austin Reichert, Jr. and Donna Follini Reichert and his son, James Dewar Reichert. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Lynn Reichert Cannon, Lisa Anne Reichert, Laura Reichert Matthews, Sara Burnett Reichert, Joseph Dewar Reichert and Lucien Searle Reichert; and two great- grandchildren, Grace and Austin Cannon. Doug cherished his family, his grandchildren and friends, vacations, holiday traditions, golfing with his sons. These were his passions. He will be remembered by all who knew him for his gregarious personality and contagious laugh. Doug and Martha have been longtime members of the Ben Avon Presbyterian Church. A memorial service will be held there on March 12, 2016. The church is located at 7501 Church Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA.
