CHARLES BARKEY AGE 81, OF PLE...
CHARLES BARKEY Age 81, of Pleasant Hills, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family. He was born November 3, 1938 in Monongahela, the son of Joseph and Mary Petrick Barkey, Sr. He was the son of humble immigrants. A brother to 16 older siblings. A husband of 49 years. A father to a son and daughter. And a grandfather to three princesses. He was a student. A scholarship athlete. A college graduate. And a soldier when his country called on him. He was a teacher. A coach. A tutor. A mentor. And a friend. To those who knew him, he was a good man. Maybe the best. To those closest to him, he was simply
Dad. And he died with the same class, perseverance, dignity, and courage with which he lived. Charles played football at St. Vincent College and graduated from IUP. He received his master's degree and taught math at Baldwin-Whitehall School District for over 30 years. He coached football at Baldwin and Thomas Jefferson high schools throughout his career. Charles was also a veteran of the U.S. Army. VINCENT P. MARZULA AGE 53, PA...
VINCENT P. MARZULA Age 53, passed away suddenly on August 3, 2020. Vince was a prince of a guy. He was smart, quick-witted and fun loving. His wife, Kim, and three sons, V.J., Zac and Brandon, were his world. He loved sharing stories about the boys' sports and academic achievements, and he and Kim could be found most weekends caravanning around the countryside to attend one of the boys' elite level soccer tournaments. He was a much-loved uncle to his 15 nieces and nephews, and always found the time to connect with them in a meaningful way. Vince was a Senior Vice President of Huntington Bank, and he was considered a visionary in his field who possessed an understanding of the complex issues of the healthcare revenue cycle. Vince was passionate about the things that he loved. Among the things that Vince loved, and was passionate about, were his family, his faith, anything to do with the University of Pittsburgh, sports and politics. He respected and revered his late father, and was particularly attentive and devoted to his mother during her ongoing dementia illness; he spent countless evenings in quiet conversation, or just quiet company, with her in recent years. If you knew Vince for a half hour, you knew that he had three sons about whom his world revolved. He wouldn't let you know any of this in a braggy sort of way, just in a very proud papa way. He was devoted to his wife of 28 years and credited her for the best part of his life. Vince was a die-hard Pitt fan. H2P! He was always at the ready with a stat to prove why Pitt was the better team in x or y sport in whatever year you cared to argue about. In addition to his wife, Kim (Gerber) and his three sons, V.J., Zac and Brandon, Vince is survived by his mother, Patricia (Creswell) Marzula. His father, John Marzula, passed in 2016. Vince leaves behind four siblings, Michele (Don) Joiner, Leslie (Tim) Johnson, John (Diane) Marzula and Lisa (Chuck) Jenkins. His extended family includes Kim's mother, Ruth Lehr Lutz, and her siblings, Eric Gerber, Debra Ransing, Robin (Julie) Gerber, and Christine (Jim) Walturz. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. at SCHELLHAAS & SONS FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS SERVICES, INC., 1600 Stone Mansion Drive, Sewickley, PA 15143 (Franklin Park / Wexford).
