ALMA KUKURUDA ALMA KUKURUDA WE...
ALMA KUKURUDA Alma Kukuruda went to heaven on Sunday, May 17, 2020, at the age of 88. She spent her last days surrounded by her beloved family. Alma was selfless, kind-hearted, compassionate and loving. Her gentle soul, welcoming smile, and unforgettable laugh captivated people everywhere she went. Most importantly, she enriched the lives of those she knew through her love, unwavering faith, and devotion to Jesus. Alma was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Anna and Frank Macak, in 1931. After graduating from Perry High School in 1949, she began her career with Knights Life Insurance. It was there that a young, handsome painter saw the love of his life for the first time. Struck by Alma's beauty, he was too shy to ask her on a date. Luckily, his friend, to whom we owe much gratitude, graciously let her know. Alma married Edward Kukuruda, the lucky painter, in 1951. They had eight loving children together. She showed love to her family and friends through prayer, beautiful hand-written letters, and warm hugs. Alma's passion for education led her to the North Allegheny School District, where she worked in the administrative office. After retiring, she and Edward moved to Sacramento, California. Serving others was second nature to Alma; whether volunteering at hospitals and St. Barnabas to pray for the sick and elderly, or leading Bible study for high school students. She was always willing to serve her church in all capacities. The Bible verse, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me - Philippians 4:13, inspired Alma throughout her life. Alma's talents were endless. Knitting, sewing, sculpting, and baking were her favorite. She cross-stitched pillow cases and knitted blankets for her great-grandchildren. She baked the most delicious cookies, which were always loaded with butter. She was never afraid to get her clothes dirty while gardening. Classic movies always brought her joy. Alma was predeceased by her husband, Edward; sisters, Mary (Jack) White and Dorothea (Donald) Lucius, and brother, Frank Macak. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Frances Tyksinski; children, Anne (Peter) Cerutti, John (Diane) Kukuruda, Linda (Stephen) Bryant, Jerry (Christina) Kukuruda, Thomas (Julie) Kukuruda, Miriam (Paul) Fiehler, Edward Kukuruda, and Jane Kukuruda Bloch; as well as 17 nieces and nephews; 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Her family was blessed to have known such an amazing woman and shared so many precious moments with her. In the end, Alma became the teacher she wanted to be by showing those around her how to live their best life. Her life will be celebrated at a memorial service at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at Northway Community Church, 12121 Perry Hwy, Wexford, PA 15090. A memorial picnic will be held at noon on Sunday, July 26, 2020 at Moccasin Grove in Settlers Cabin Park, 608 Ridge Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15205. In lieu of flowers, please perform an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness for someone in need to honor Alma and the benevolence she exhibited throughout her life.
