MARGARET "PEGGY" KRISTOFF Age 84, of West Mifflin, PA passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 29, 2019. Born on May 15, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Nellie and Harry Werries. Beloved wife to the late Joseph Kristoff; loving mother to Mary Ann (Rick) Pfeuffer and Louann Kristoff; cherished grandma to Cassie, RJ, Logan, Colton, and Tanner Pfeuffer and Sean Meredith. Peggy was also blessed with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Mike and Kate Werries. Peggy enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events, going to Kennywood, and the outdoors. She will be dearly missed by all. A service will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 4 p.m. at PITTSBURGH CREMATION AND FUNERAL CARE, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317, (724) 260-5546. JAMES H. MILLER, JR. Age 81, of Ross Township and formerly of Scott Township, went to be with our Heavenly Father on Sunday, June 30, 2019. Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathleen; and son, James H. Miller III; devoted father to Gretchen (Allen) Graham and Michelle (Brian) Obst; stepfather to William (Linda) Snyder and Robert (Nicole) Snyder; adoring grandfather to Zachary, Annie, Julie, Katie, Lorelei, Alaina, Ryan, Raegan James, Ryder and Paige. At the age of 18, Jim enlisted in the US Air Force where he served his country proudly. He was honorably discharged after a medical rehabilitative stay in Walter Reed Medical Center. Jim then went on to work for the US Postal Service where he served as Postal manager for 34 years during which time he also volunteered as a football coach for Our Lady of Grace. After his retirement, Jim worked for Heinz Field in the North Clubhouse suites for all home Pittsburgh Steeler and University of Pittsburgh football games. Friends and family will be received at DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, 806 Perry Highway, in Ross Twp., from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., on Tuesday, July 2. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Teresa of Avila church at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3. JOSEPH W. RICHARD Age 90, of Jefferson Hills, born and grew up in Morgantown, WV, passed away surrounded by his loving family on June 30, 2019. Joseph is survived by his beloved brother, George (Twana) Richard as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, their children and adoring friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ace and Anna Jabour as well as his eight siblings. Joseph proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Army. Then went on to West Virginia University where he received his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, moved to Pittsburgh and worked for Westinghouse for over 25 years. He was a huge sports fan especially loyal to the West Virginia Mountaineers. He was known to all as "Uncle Joe", faith, family and friends were first in his life and he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. LORRAINE (KOWALSKI) GOFFORT Age 89, died peacefully on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Peroni's Personal Care Home. She had resided in Pittsburgh most of her life, having lived the last seven years at her home near Smock. Lorraine was employed for many years at Atlantic Richfield. She was a member of St. Mary's Nativity Church in Uniontown. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Mary (Held) Kowalski and her brother, Thomas Kowalski. Her husband of 51 years, William Goffort and her sister-in-law, Marie Bake. She is survived by her niece, Tina Emerick; her nephews, Gil, Gary, Glenn and Gordon Bake; also left to cherish her memory are her dear friends, Mary and Him Meissing, Rich Smith and Dottie Omalley; her Godchild, John Meissing; her very kind neighbors, Bryan, Andrea and Loghan Muha; and many friends from Lincoln Place and Fred and Patricia Yoder and Family. He was married for 50 years to the love of his life, his wife, the late Mary Eileen Belotti; loving father of Bridget Zeise, Michael J. (Tammy) Belotti, Brenda Tozzi and Joseph J. Belotti; grandfather of Alyssa, Hanna, Michael, Anna, Josh and Zachary; great-grandfather of Coachella Mary and Jesse; brother of Alice (Larry) Dowling, Fanny (Bob) Kelly and the late Michael Belotti; and a son of the late Michael Joseph and Mary Ellen (Braun) Belotti. Joe served in the Army from 1962 - 1965. He worked for Blawnox Borough for 53 years and was a member of the A-Club and Sportsman Club. Joe was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved his family with his whole heart and will be dearly missed. T. BARRETT OLIVER Age 95, of Sewickley, PA passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 26, 2019. Barrett was born in Pittsburgh, PA on May 4, 1924 to James Guy and Alexandra Stewart Oliver. Barrett was a unique and talented individual, keeping fastidious notes, a tickler of the ivories and had an infectious sense of humor. He was a portrait of kindness and empathy to whomever he met. Barrett attended Carnegie High School, where his piano signature hallmark skills began. He went on to the Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY. He finished as a LTJG serving three years in the Navy Reserves. After a letter of commendation, he attended Virginia Tech, VPI, graduating in 1949 with a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering. Barrett began his professional career with ALCOA in the early 50's, working in the electrical engineering department throughout numerous U.S. locations. He was inducted into the ALOCA 25 Year Club while working at the Warrick Operations in Indiana. Following his retirement in 1981, he was very active and instrumental as a director and historian for the Pittsburgh Alcoa Retirees Club. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jane Oliver; youngest son, David Oliver; sister, Ellen Parsons; brother, Stewart. He is survived by daughters, Susan Lea Schatz, (Mike) San Antonio, TX, Linda Oliver Bader, (Jay) Ashtabula, OH; grandson, Alexander Barrett Bader, Pewaukee, WI; son, Thomas B. Oliver, Canonsburg, PA; and Debbie Oliver Eckhart, (Jim); grandson, Grant, Rockport, TX. WALT L. "WALT" MATHOS Age 89, of Monroeville (formerly of Bellwood Road, West Mifflin) passed away at home June 27, 2019. Beloved son of the late Jacob and Barbara Mathos; loving brother of Ruth Ann Leitholf and Dorothy C. Knight. Preceded in death by sister, Barbara Ellen Brown; and brothers, James Jacob Mathos and William Bennett Mathos; treasured uncle of six nephews and five nieces. Walt graduated from the University of Pittsburgh majoring in business and engineering. Walt's vocation was a Data Center Manager for the Union Railroad Company. Most holidays he worked, enabling his colleagues to be with their families. Served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, obtaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. A member of the former Duquesne Golf Club in West Mifflin for over 50 years. Walt was an outstanding athlete and teacher, earning his way to excellence as a diver, baseball pitcher, tennis player, swimmer and golfer. He taught about life in parallels to golf many times. He reminded us of a message from Ben Hogan: “As you walk down the fairway of life, you must smell the roses...for you only get to play one round.” He modeled and taught us the importance of character. Walt will also be remembered for the love and respect he had for his mother, the patience to teach children the lessons of life and athletics, and his ability to listen. FRANCIS JOHN KOWALSKI Passed away Monday, July 1, 2019, surrounded in love by friends and family. Francis, also known as "Sonny," "Coffee," and "Franko," was a longtime resident of the South Side. Married in 1948 to Dolores M. (Bosack) Kowalski, Francis worked at the Equitable Gas Company and also operated his own business. Francis loved spending time with his family, playing the piano, and enjoyed gardening. He touched the hearts of everyone he met with his "Pap Pap" charm. Beloved husband of the late Dolores M. "Sis" (Bosack) Kowalski; father of Dee M. Trop (Raymond), Colleen F. Marconi (David), and the late James F. Kowalski; grandfather of Brandon, Justin, and Evan Trop.
