WIATROWSKI CHRISTOPHER M. Age 50 of Whitehall, formerly of Level Green passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 17, 2018. Chris was born on June 24, 1968 in Indiana, PA the son of Martha (Pcolar) Wiatrowski of Level Green and the late Peter G. Wiatrowski (2017). He was proudly raised in Yorktown Heights, NY until the age of 11 when the family moved to Pennsylvania. Chris was a graduate of Greensburg Central Catholic High School (1986) and attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Chris was currently working as a district driver for the Fox Chapel School District, a job which he truly enjoyed. A dedicated father with a great sense of humor and a work ethic that was unmatched. Chris's children were his first priority and spent countless hours with them from practices and games to teaching the kids his "life skills" (to their dismay). He was known for his many lifelong friends and his love of fishing, alternative music, the beach Converse, Corona and family memorabilia/traditions. In addition to his mother, Chris is survived by his much loved children, Anna, Zachary and Lucas Wiatrowski; his dedicated girlfriend, Sarah (Keith) Gorman and her children whom he loved like his own, Trevor, Bryce, Greta and Molly Gorman; his siblings, Lisa Schambura (Bob) of Irwin, Kate Wiatrowski (Gerald Silvasy) of Level Green, and Jessica Wiatrowski of Phoenix, AZ; cherished aunts, uncles and cousins as well as his nieces and nephew, Megan, Devon, Micayla, Connor and Danni. SWORDEN MICHAEL "MICKEY" Age 68, of West Deer, originally from Washington, PA, died of complications from myelodysplastic syndrome at St. Margaret Hospital in Fox Chapel, PA on October 17, 2018, surrounded by his family. Coach Mick as he was known to many, was born on June 9, 1950 in Washington, PA, the son of the late Mike and Joan (Picconi) Sworden. He was a 1968 graduate of Trinity High School where he was an athletic stand out in football. He was a 1967 PIAA All-State football player at Trinity and was named to the 1967 Big 33 team. He attended Arizona State University and West Liberty University where he was a two-time All American ('71-'72) as a member of the NAIA D2 runner up Hill Toppers. He was the 1972 WVIAC defensive player of the year. In 1979 he was hired as an assistant football coach at McGuffey High School and then as a teacher in 1980. He spent 21 seasons at McGuffey as a coach and 30 as a teacher. Mick, his brother Frank Sworden and Richard Borlow took the McGuffey football program from only two prior winning seasons in school history and made the Highlanders an annual contender. The team was coached to three conference championships and a pinnacle undefeated WPIAL championship in 1994. Mick finished his football coaching career with a stint at his alma-matter before retiring after the 2009 season. Mickey is enshrined into the Washington County Sports hall of fame, the West Liberty University hall of fame, and the McGuffey High School hall of fame. In addition to his football accolades he coached high school track and led several athletes to state level medals. He was a little league baseball and softball coach, a football, basketball and softball official, and served the board for many years at Colonial Woods Recreation Association. His passions in life were hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Patricia (Mellon) Sworden; his sons, Aaron (Bethany Scherer) Sworden of Washington, Adam (Christina Swisher) Sworden of Valparaiso, IN; his daughter, Shannon of Gibsonia; three grandchildren, Allison, Brody and Nora; his brothers, Frank (Karen Ward) and Dennis (Debbie Rhetorik); his sister, Sandra Kaminski; and many nieces and nephews. Mickey was Godfather to Melissa Kaminski-Robinson. She met her husband, the late Chester A. Rupinski, through a cousin at the age of 14 and they were married four years later. They celebrated 43 years together before Chester died in 1998. Marlene was the loving mother of Debbie Nowakowski of North Versailles and Lori (Brad Raley) Rupinski of North Braddock. Her family was the most important thing in her life and she enjoyed spending every spare moment with them. Her strong family values had a lasting impression on her family. She is preceded in death by her sister Connie Mahosky. Marlene had a strong work ethic, and worked her entire career of almost 40 years as an office worker with US Steel at the Clariton Works Plant. KITKO GREGORY T. Age 51, of Coraopolis, PA, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center after suffering a heart attack. He was born on November 5, 1966 in Clearfield, PA the son of the late Allen B. and Jane (Bowley) Kitko. Gregory was a 1984 graduate of St. Francis High School. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh Johnstown in 1988 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. In 2000 he received a Master's of Science in Mechanical Engineering specializing in fluid flow and heat transfer from the University of Pittsburgh. He was a self-employed, entrepreneur having founded GTK Flow Analysis. He was an avid sports enthusiast. He loved animals, he often donated his time and resources to animal shelters. Gregory will always be remembered for his quirky sense of humor and the ability of making people laugh. He will be sadly missed by friends and family. Gregory is survived by his brother, Allen J. GORDON LAWRENCE B. Age 89, died peacefully on October 19, 2018 at his home in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. He was born January 14, 1929 in Pittsburgh to Alfred and Bertha (Goldberg) Gordon. After graduating from Shady Side Academy, he attended Washington & Jefferson College. Larry was an investment adviser/stockbroker for the Pittsburgh firm of Parker/Hunter, where he made lifelong friendships with many of his clients. He was an early supporter and coach of youth hockey in the Pittsburgh area, and the longtime treasurer of the Pittsburgh Amateur Hockey League (East) and the Churchill Area High School hockey team. Larry was an avid golfer and bridge player, and a dedicated student of both activities. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Sara; his sons, Alan (Linda), and Michael (Darcy); and he was "Bop" to his grandchildren, Benjamin (Felicia) Gordon, Beth Gordon, David Gordon, Rebecca Gordon, and Dora Gordon; he is also survived by his sister, Rita (Paul) Glosser, with whom he was especially close; and by numerous nieces and nephews. BLAZETIC FRANK JOSEPH, Jr. Age 77 years, of Penn Township, died on October 19, 2018 at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System - H.J. Heinz Community Living Center. He was born on January 25, 1941 in Wilkinsburg, to the late Frank and Emma (Durick) Blazetic. Frank was very proud of his service in the US Army. He was a member of International Union of Painters and Allied Trades Local #6 and had owned and operated his own businesses, Frans Joseph and M&W Interiors. He had many highlights through his career as a painter and artist, and had completed notable restorations at St. Barbara Church, Fallingwater, the Bennedum Center, Duquesne Club, the National Treasury, and many other prestigious venues. Frank was an active member of St. Barbara Catholic Church. He volunteered his time as a CCD teacher for many years and also ministered to the prisoners at the former SCI Greensburg. His love of children and service led him to one of his most rewarding endeavors, serving as the Boy Scout Leader for Troop 413 at Clelian Heights School with his close friend, the late Charles Decker. He was presented with a special award from the Catholic Church for this volunteership. Frank loved time with his grandchildren, music, fishing and boating, his motorcycle, and cooking (such as his famous OBX Seafood Chowder), and had a great love of sports. The motto he lived by was "No one can ruin your day." Frank's love of life, tremendous sense of humor, and ability to tell a great story will be dearly missed by his beloved wife of 52 years, Mary Catherine Schartner Blazetic; three daughters, Beth A.
