DOCKEY JUDITH A. Age 71, of Oakmont, passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, after a long, heart-breaking battle with Alzheimer's disease. Beloved wife for 50 years of James M. Dockey; loving mother of James P. (Christine) Dockey of Fox Chapel, Jeffrey B. (Dawn) Dockey of Charleston, SC, and Jennifer D. (William) Seislove of Southbury, CT; adored grandmother known as Ammie of Samantha R., James P., Jr., Anderson S., Bethany G., George J., Jackson S., Maggie L., and Ella J. Daughter of the late Dr. John B. and Louise Anderson; sister of Jack R. Anderson of Pittsburgh. Judy grew up in Sharon, PA, raised her family in Wyomissing, PA, then lived in Bethany Beach, Delaware, before moving to Oakmont. She earned a teaching degree from the University of Pittsburgh where she played flute in the Pitt Concert Band and met her husband, Jim. The Pitt legacy is strong in her family as her three children were 4th generation graduates. She taught elementary school until devoting all of her efforts to raising a family. As a homemaker, a wife, and a mother, she was strong, capable and tireless, always striving to make everything better. She had a flair for decorating, cooking, and entertaining. She turned small moments into big memories. This is how she will be remembered. PUNTURI ALBERT M. Age 84, of Greentree and formerly Braddock Hills, on Tuesday, June 12, 2018. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Caroleen Beninati Punturi; four children, Dina (Jack) of Ashburn, VA, Joseph (Becca) of Harrison City, PA, John (fiancée Terri) of Jasper, IN, and Michele (Michael) of Meadowbrook, PA as well as 16 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren (and one on the way), and 18 nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Joseph and Jennie Punturi and brother of Joseph (Ruth), Braddock Hills, PA and Paul (deceased). Al was a US Army paratrooper and a letter carrier for 30 years. He was also an ingenious fix-it man, avid golfer, ace bowler, smooth dancer, and excellent poker, horseshoe, tennis and softball player and diehard Pittsburgh sports fan. More than anything, he loved vacationing and celebrating with family and friends and attending every athletic event, dance recital, musical show, graduation and birthday party of his cherished children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who thought he hung the moon. He will be greatly missed by all. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in psychology, but ultimately made nuclear engineering his career. He was an avid fan of any Pittsburgh sports, and loved golf and reading. He will be remembered as a devoted family man, who adored his wife, daughters and grandkids. She enjoyed homemaking, gardening, and spending time with her family. Tom was the beloved husband and partner of Corinne (Imbach) Cline for 33 years and the dear father of Lisa M. Cline of Pittsburgh, Laurie A. Cline of Atlanta, GA, and Julie Cline Pritchard (Perry) of Wintersville, Ohio. He was the proud Pap to his grandchildren, Lauren Pritchard and John Davidson J.D. Pritchard, and the much-loved son-in-law of Corinne R. Imbach, and brother-in-law to Edward T. Ted and Rod W. Imbach. An Angola, Indiana native, Tom earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University and Masters in Health Administration from the University of Michigan. Tom enjoyed a long career in hospital administration in both Boston and Pittsburgh, where he served as President and CEO of West Penn Hospital. Tom was a lover of music, fine arts, sports and foreign travel. He counted Paris and London among his favorite destinations. He and Corinne left many footfalls abroad and many footprints in the sands of Cape May. Tom knew how to keep the music playing. As a 40-year member of the Pittsburgh Field Club, Tom enjoyed playing golf and cards with his buddies. He was a dedicated fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins since the early arena days. Tom will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and good friend. GOMRICK MARGARET C. "PEG" Age 87, of Monroeville, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, surrounded by her family. Peg is survived by her children, Patricia, Daniel (Beth), Mary (Mark), Thomas (Denise), Kathleen (David), Carol (Brett), and Christine (Christopher); eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Peg is also survived by her four sisters, Marcy (Kenneth), Jean (William), Cecilia (James) and Rosemary, and one brother, Michael. Preceding her in death was her loving husband of 62 years, Dan; her granddaughter Erin, and her brother William (Elsie). Peg was born in Braddock and Valedictorian of her class at Rankin High School. She ended her long and varied career working at the University of Pittsburgh in the Grants Department while remaining always involved in the community. Peg was Secretary of the Monroeville Historical Society for many years and served on the Parish Council at North American Martyrs. Peg and Dan traveled the world but, kept their roots firmly planted in Pittsburgh. Together they blessed their children with love, laughter, a strong work ethic and beautiful memories. ZGONC ROBERT PAUL Robert Paul Zgonc of Monroeville passed away Sunday, June 17, 2018. Bobby' was a world-class accordionist, enshrined in the National Cleveland-Style Polka Hall of Fame as a Trustees Honor Roll Recipient. He taught himself with a borrowed accordion beginning at age 11 and ascended to recognition as one of the most proficient at playing the model known as the button box, with a sound and energy all his own. Born in Westmoreland City, Pa., to parents of Slovenian descent, he influenced Slovenian culture across North America through his performances and recordings that included the 1960 hit 'SNPJ Polka' with the Al Morouse Orchestra; his initiation of the annual 'Grape Festival' in 1973 that became a 40-year fixture in Herminie, Pa.; and his three decades of co-hosting a weekly radio show with his wife Vlatka on WIXZ-AM in McKeesport and WPIT-FM in Pittsburgh. The son of a railroad worker, he was equally tireless in his own duties, in addition to being a loving husband, father and grandfather while also finding time to study and experience and embrace global cultures, particularly those of Eastern Europe. He is survived by his wife Vlatka; his sons Robert Zgonc Jr. of Swissvale, Zoran Zgonc of New York and Dejan Kovacevic of Pittsburgh; his daughters-in-law Emily Anderson of New York and Dali Kovacevic of Pittsburgh, and his grandchildren Dara and Marko Kovacevic of Pittsburgh. He then joined the United States Merchant Marines (1943 1946), served in the engine department on army troop ships, crossing the Atlantic Ocean 9 times. Also served in the Pacific Ocean aboard T-2 tanker ships, as well as in the Mediterranean Sea. Past commander of the American Legion Post 760 in Bethel Park. Member of the Board of Directors at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall for 10 Years. Served 13 years on the committee to build WWII Memorial on the North Shore of Pittsburgh. Served on committee of advisory council, federation of war vets, society member of the Italian American Veterans in the U.S.A. Past president of the American Merchant Marines, Three Rivers Chapter. Started the South Hills Verteran Honor Guard with the late Cal Marque. Served as the coordinator for many years. Participated in over 3,000 Veteran Funerals at local cemeteries, and the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, his ID at the cemeteries was the bugler with the pony tail. He was a restaurateur: Pace's Restaurant in Oakland (where August Wilson ate his lunch) , Pace's Coffee Shop Medical Arts Building, Circus Hotdog Shop in Oakland and Pittsburgh, Mona Lisa Restaurant in Brentwood, which could seat 400. Many famous people passed through this restaurant, including Robert Bobby Kennedy, Mario Lemieux, Bruno Sanmartino. He also had Andy Warhol's after funeral luncheon. He had three monuments placed at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies: United States Merchant Marine Veterans of WWII, Navy Seabees (in honor of my wife's father) and US Armed Guard of WWII. He also had four benches dedicated to the four merchant marine chapters in our area. He was bestowed France's highest distinction, the French Legion of Honor medal, for his contribution to France's liberation in WWII.
