GILBERT DEBORAH M. “DEBBIE” Deborah Meryl Gilbert, age 62, of Mt. Lebanon, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at Family Hospice, Mt. Lebanon, surrounded by her family. Born April 10, 1956, in Pittsburgh, Debbie was the daughter of Eileen Schwartz (nee Gherman) and the late Paul Becker. After graduating from Penn State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts, she worked as an artist and illustrator before dedicating herself to raising her two children. Debbie was driven and fortified by her faith in God, a fixture in her church and anchor of her regular Bible study group for decades. Her faith was the means by which she led a full and productive life despite a 27-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis. The scores of friends and caregivers who assisted Debbie over the years were moved by her unfailing kindness, humor and dignity, frequently insisting that she helped them as much or more than they helped her. She overcame the limitations of her illness to impact a remarkable number of lives. A beloved friend and devoted wife, mother, sister and daughter, she will be remembered and missed by her husband of 38 years, who lovingly referred to her as "Queenie"; her two sons, Matt Gilbert (Aleira Rolon-Colon) and Todd Gilbert; her mother; her sister, Judy Becker; her aunt, Hilda Goldhamer; her brother-in-law, Kalman Katz (Beryl); nieces and nephews, Sarah, Paul, and Emily Gold, Staci Anderson (Nick) and Michael Katz. RHEAM (RHEAMBO) F. RONALD “RONNIE” On Sunday, April 8, 2018, Pittsburgh lost a true icon and I mention Pittsburgh because I think he knew just about everyone. I can't think of anyone who left a more indelible impression--he was a little bit John Wayne, he had the charm and good looks of George Clooney, and could also make you think he was really a Preacher. Everyone joked about his nine lives, but it really was true. He survived open heart surgery three times and getting caught in a boat propeller. No matter how many times he was hospitalized it never slowed him down or made him bitter. Age did finally slow him down a bit. He stopped skiing in his 70's and sold his boat at around age 83. He loved the beach and boating and just being on the water. We were always dragging him off the beach. He was fun to just talk to and spend time with. He was such a presence who never really got old. He was a son, husband, a dad, and a grandpap who made everyone laugh, always saw the bright side, taught us compassion, tolerance, forgiveness, honest, and decency. He showed us how to stay young, helped us overcome fear, and overall just gave us an example of someone to emulate. He spent countless hours with his grandchildren. He was generous with his time, his heart, and really was there for anyone who needed help. He was always full of surprises. He believed in second chances and never gave up on anyone. He was a true friend to anyone who needed a friend. He had a heart of gold, a twinkle in his eye and a larger than life personality. Thanks for teaching us what is really important in life. Thanks for all the fun and for always making us feel loved. Ronnie leaves his daughter, Kim and her husband, Gary; and his grandchildren, Ryan (Samantha) and Christopher. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne; his daughter, Linda; and his parents. He was a retired Pressman from the Post Gazette and also a retired longterm volunteer at Heart to Heart at AHN. In lieu of the typical memorial service, we will have a Celebration of Life for a life well lived on the river at Red Fin Blues (100 Waterfront Dr., Pittsburgh, PA) on Monday, May 14, 2018, from 7-10 p.m. Farewell gun salute at 7:30 p.m. Arrangements by THOMAS P. KUNSAK FUNERAL HOME, INC. Send condolences post-gazette.com/gb

LANE ROBERT N. OF PALM BEACH, ...

LANE ROBERT N. Of Palm Beach, Pittsburgh and formerly of New York City, died at his home in Palm Beach, May 8, 2018, 12 days shy of his 91st birthday. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Susan Jacob Michaels Oberg. He is also survived by two daughters, Robyn Joseph (Ken), and their daughters, Amanda and Caroline, and Laurie Schaffran (Charles) and their sons, Scott and Zachary. He is also survived by two stepchildren, Andy Michaels and his children, Elizabeth, Walker, and Jackson and stepdaughter, Melissa Michaels (Mark Gerzon) and her daughters, Mariah Tuffy and Robin Brody. His first wife, Coralye Lane died in 1995. Mr. Lanes' father owned movie theaters and at an early age, he developed a passion for films which led him to a career producing movies for home viewing. He obtained "the rights" for 8mm from many Hollywood studios. Ranging from kiddie cartoons to major full length films, Mr. Lane hired linguists to dub in actors' voices in many languages. He distributed these films world-wide. When home recording equipment became popular, the studios recognized the potential themselves and revoked his "rights". He then retired to his alternative passions which were golf and photography. Mr. Lane's sense of humor was legendary. As the oldest of four boys; the late Herbert and surviving brothers, Arthur and Richard, he led this merry group of siblings through escapades and pranks from the 16th floor of the Beresford in New York City where his family moved from Brooklyn when he was six years old. His keen humor continued to delight his family friends throughout his life. He graduated from the the Franklin School for Boys and then Ohio State. Mr. Lane then served as the medical officer on a tanker in the Merchant Marines. Fortunately, no one got sick. His funeral will be held on Monday, May 14, 2018, at 11:30 a.m. at CAMPBELL'S FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1076 Madison Ave., New York, NY. Send condolences post-gazette.com/gb
