PROKAY EDWARD “BOOTSO” Age 90, of West Mifflin, on April 27, 2018, at his home. He was the son of the late Luckas and Ann Majoros Prokay. He retired from Union Railroad as a mechanic and also as a truck driver from Rogan Hauling where he hauled slag from the mill to fill in the Duquesne Village Shopping Center. He proudly served his country in the Army during WWII. Brother of Margaret Estok of West Mifflin and the late Ann Ciglan, Irene Juhasz, Joseph, Alex and James Prokay; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Ed was the beloved husband of Robin (Lewis) Guerdan for 54 years; loving father of Audrey (Joe) Petrick of Greensburg, and Tracy (Tom) Deen of Plum; proud grandfather of Josh, Zack, and Rachel Petrick, and Kennedy Deen; cherished brother of Anita (Larry) Samples of Hummelstown PA, and Doris (Pete) Klobuchar of Blufftown, SC and numerous nieces and nephews. Ed was devoted to his family and friends and will be dearly missed. To honor Ed's wishes there will be no visitation. A private celebration of his life will be held with his immediate family. SPARTIS THOMAS L. Age 67, of Pleasant Hills, PA, passed away after a long hard fought battle with cancer on April 27, 2018. Beloved brother of Philip (Maria) Spartis and Gary (Pam) Spartis; son of Cleo and Louis Spartis; uncle of Elias (Nicole) Spartis, Alex (Allie) Spartis, Dean Spartis, Alexa Spartis, and Caroline Spartis; great-uncle of Philip Leo, JP, Grayson, and Dillon Spartis; and cherished friend of Grace Pavelko. A graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and a former Volunteer Fireman of the Pleasant Hills Fire Department, Tom worked his entire life as a grounds keeper for the South Park of Allegheny County. Tom loved his Pittsburgh Penguins and riding his bike through the hills of Western Pennsylvania. He loved visits to the Jersey shore and riding with the waves with his Brothers and Cousins. Those who got to know Tom enjoyed his quick wit and sense of humor. His pride and joy were his Nephews, Nieces, and Great Nephews. Survived by grandmothers, Shirley Vida and LaVerne Quinlan; preceded in death by grandfathers, Paul Vida, Sr. and Michael Quinlan; and grandmother, Naomi (Recker) Vida. Chris graduated from Shaler high school. She will be remembered for her kind and generous spirit, for her concern and support for others and for her love of animals, especially her cats. We will sorely miss her beautiful smile, her sense of humor and her infectious laugh. KNITTEL RUTH (CHAHINE) This week Ruth said she was going to a beautiful place. On Saturday, April 28, 2018, Ruth, age 83, passed away peacefully at her Ingram home surrounded by her devoted family. Beloved wife of 40 years to the late Joseph F. Knittel; loving mother of Gary (Chris), Joseph (Marcie), Robert (Janette), and the late Cynthia Knittel; sister of Oscar Chahine, Florence Williams, Alice Koch and the late Betty Chahine. She was “Grams” to seven grandchildren and “Great-Grams” to four great-grandchildren. Ruth spent her early days growing up in her father's restaurant in downtown Pittsburgh and she loved to golf and swim at the Chartiers Country Club. McCABE MARIANNE (JABLONSKI) Count your many blessings, stitch them one by one. Marianne McCabe (Jablonski, formerly Kelly), formerly of Findleyville and the North Hills, was peacefully reunited with her beloved husband, Jay McCabe, on April 28, 2018. Marianne lived a life full of blessings that she masterfully stitched together. A creative soul, she spent the last years of her life mastering the craft of quilting. It was through quilting that she brought together the things she did throughout her life. Marianne always strove to make those around her feel loved. She worked to bring people together and to help them find joy in themselves and those around them. She was the thread that brought together the pieces of her quilt- the people she knew and loved. Marianne is survived by her four children, Jacqueline Kelly (Daniel McHale), William Matt (Susan), Judy Acheson (Joe Cummings), Ryan (Michele); her nine beloved grandchildren, Liam and Fiona McHale, Arianna Kelly, Clayton and Poppy Acheson, Allie Cummings, Evan, Grant, and Logan Kelly will forever be warmed by her memory and will live a life enriched by the lessons of compassion that she taught them. Marianne is also survived by her beloved sisters, Patricia Marsico (Sal) and Judy Hunt (Steve), both of whom brought much joy to her life; her cousin, Pat Jablonski; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
