MEISTER RITA M. (SHERWOOD) Age 95, of Sunrise in Upper St. Clair, formerly of Scott Twp., peacefully with her daughter by her side, on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, which would have been the 76th anniversary of her marriage with the late Earl J. Meister. Devoted mother of Rita Catherine Yunker; sister of the late Dr. Allen Sherwood (survived by Ann) and the late Helen (Harold) Bailey; she is also survived by five nieces and two nephews. Rita enjoyed cooking, reading, sewing and knitting, but her true passion was teaching and molding the futures of countless young lives. She started her teaching career at St. Joseph School in Carnegie and retired from St. Bernard School in Mount Lebanon. Rita's daughter would gratefully like to thank the wonderful staff at Sunrise Assisted Living for all their loving care. Mr. Helides was the beloved husband of 61 years of Dolores (Cavlovich); father of Steve Helides of Glenshaw, Mark Helides (Beth) of Bairdford, Mary Radacosky (Dave) of Pittsburgh, Joanne Custard (Brian) of Meadville, Paul Helides of Glenshaw, Elaine Lascher (Mark) of Allison Park; son of the late Ernest and Alexandra Evanoloude Helides; grandfather of Marissa Helides (Lucas Gosik), Matthew Radacosky, Nicholas Radacosky, Samantha Lascher; great-grandfather of Dominick; brother of Theckla Helides Snell and the late Ernest Helides; also survived by nieces and nephews. He served in WWII, earning three battle stars and returned to the states to work at the Transfer Restaurant owned by his family in Taunton, MA. He moved to Pittsburgh upon his marriage and worked at People's Natural Gas Company for over 30 years. Beloved wife for 63 years to the late Thomas R. Mager; devoted mother of Amelia (Timothy) Brown of Ft. Wayne, IN, Thomas of Marblehead , MA, James of Nottingham Twp, Daniel of Murrysville and Maria of Pine Twp. She is grandmother to Gillian Snyder, Alaina Orrico, Austin and Meredith Brown, Matthew, Neil, Nathan, Michael and Gabrielle Mager. She is survived by eight great- grandchildren and a sister, Jean Mueller. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Amelia Pagano; her brother, Stanley Pagano; and sisters, Kathryn Caputo, Angela Horwitz and Mary Cassidy. She graduated from St. George High School in 1948. She enjoyed cooking wonderful Italian feasts for her family, playing bridge with her friends, teaching CCD to children and traveling around the world with her husband. CALIG JOSEPH Passed away surrounded by his loving family on April 15, 2018. He was the son of the late Ralph and Annette Calig. He is survived by his adored wife of 50 years, Claire Kamin Calig; his sons, Gregory Michael Calig (Pam) and Daniel Mark Calig (Erin); his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Samuel and Joanie Kamin; and his grandchildren, Harrison, Ross, Dylan and Alana Calig. He cherished spending time with his family and was an avid sports fan. His favorite pastimes were golfing and watching Penn State and Steelers football. Joe began his career at Allegheny General Hospital in 1970. He moved to Allegheny Valley Hospital as Chief Financial Officer in 1978. He was appointed Chief Operating Officer in 1988 and became President & CEO in 1998. During his tenure, he oversaw the creation of the Alle-Kiski Medical Center. After retiring from there in 2002, Joe served as Sr. Vice President and CFO of Community College of Allegheny County from 2005 through 2008. He served as adjunct faculty at Penn State McKeesport and Slippery Rock University and was a guest lecturer at Carnegie Mellon University, Duquesne University and the University of Pittsburgh. Throughout his long career in healthcare, Joe was actively involved with regional and national organizations including the American College of Healthcare Executives, the Healthcare Financial Management Association of which he was president, the Hospital Association of Pennsylvania, the Hospital Council of Western Pennsylvania, Voluntary Hospitals of America and the Pittsburgh Regional Healthcare Initiative. He was a Trustee with Hebrew Free Loan. Services at Tree of Life Synagogue, 5898 Wilkins Avenue, Squirrel Hill on Tuesday at 1 p.m. Visitation at Synagogue one hour prior to service (12 Noon - 1 p.m.). MIHALY MARGUERITE A. “MAGGIE” Age 76, of Uniontown, OH, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018. Born on September 10, 1941 in Pittsburgh, PA, she graduated from St. Benedictine High School, and Robert Morris College. After graduation, Maggie was very proud to begin working for U.S. Steel where she met her future husband, Dennis. They were married April 8, 1967, and lived several places before settling in Uniontown, Ohio in 1979. She began working for Keyser-Hicks Engineering and worked there until retirement. Maggie was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She was a wonderful mother, enjoyed shopping and her cats. Preceded in death by her husband, Dennis; and parents, Emil and Emma Schinhofen; Maggie is survived by son, Michael; daughter-in-law, Misty; brother, Raymond (Mary) Schinhofen; sisters-in- law, Maureen (Lee) James and Bonnie Mihaly; nieces and nephews, Kathy, Jeannie, Lisa, David, Jon, Kim, Chuck, Jaclyn, Kevin, Kara, and other relatives and friends.
