HOLMES ELSIE M. Age 79, of Dravosburg, died March 27, 2018, at home. Born July 10, 1938, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Kathleen (Galvin) Lynn and the wife of Melvin D. "Rod" Holmes, for over 63 years. Elsie retired from Bechtel Bettis Atomic Plant, with 30 years of service. She was very proud of her Christian faith. She was a member of the American Legion Post #380, Ladies Auxiliary. Elsie was truly the matriarch of her family. Her favorite pastime was crocheting, she made all the family afghans, Baptismal blankets and dish towels. Elsie loved to spend as much time as possible with her family. In addition to her husband, Elsie is survived by her children, Dianna L. TARBERT RICHARD E. Age 85, of Mount Lebanon, formerly of Scott Twp., passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2018. Born June 13, 1932 in Wilkinsburg, PA, he was the only child of the late Paul and Ethel Pearl (Van Ryn) Tarbert. He was a 1950 graduate of George Westinghouse High School in Pittsburgh, PA. While serving as a young Marine, he married his sweetheart, Dorothy Kusserow, of Dormont, PA, whom he met while he attended the University of Pittsburgh. Together, they raised a family of five boys. After leaving the Corps as a 1st Lt, Richard worked as a Research Engineer for Alcoa Corp and got into the field of water and waste water treatment at Calgon Corp. Then, his work with the U. S. Steel Corporation pushed him into Environmental Engineering. He finished his career working for NUS, Halliburton, then Brown and Root, performing environmental audits of DOE facilities across the nation. A man of intellectual pursuits, Richard was a life-long avid reader, and enjoyed solving crossword puzzles - in pen. In 2010, Dorothy preceded Richard in death after 55 years of marriage. He is survived by their five sons, Donald (Val) Tarbert of Pittsburgh, PA, James (Clarice) Tarbert of Pittsburgh, PA, Edward (Angie) Tarbert of Richmond, VA, Brian (Mary Ann) Tarbert of Bethel Park, PA, and David Tarbert of Loogootee, IN; 14 grandchildren, 13 great- grandchildren; brother-in-law, the Reverend Ralph (Carol) Kusserow, of Zelienople, PA; and sister-in-law, Ruth Kusserow of Dormont, PA, and their families.
