She was a retired cosmetic sales associate for Kaufmanns Department Store in downtown Pittsburgh, member of Resurrection Church and the Marian Guild at Resurrection, and was the past president of the Auxiliary Sisters of St. Francis Academy in Castle Shannon. Beloved wife of the late Charles E. GIDO JOHN M. Passed away on Friday, November 24, 2017. He was born on the family farm in Girard, Pennsylvania-Just west of Erie-on November 11, 1934. He played football in high school and after graduation attended Edinboro State Teachers College. There he wrestled, boxed in the Golden Gloves, and met his future bride, Patricia A. Woodhouse. After college, he served with the US Marines in Japan and the Philippines. Upon returning from active duty, he married Patty Woodhouse in 1958 and began his career in public education as a middle school science teacher. After earning his master's degree from Duquesne University, he became an administrator in the Upper St. Clair School District, where he would work in various capacities for his entire career. John and Patty had a son, Samuel P. Gido, in 1966, followed by a daughter, Jessica LeGrow (Gido) in 1971. John remained in the Marine Reserve, eventually rising to the rank of Major. He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid Steelers fan. He was also the announcer at Upper St. Clair Panther High School football games for over 50 years. After retirement, he and Patty especially enjoyed traveling and they welcomed four grandchildren, Lily Gido, Kyle Gido, Jack LeGrow and Sammy LeGrow. After Patty passed away in 2008, John found companionship with Judy Salvatore, a longtime friend and colleague from the St. Clair Schools. Always a fitness enthusiast, John was walking and working out regularly, and was very healthy up until the onset of a brief illness over the last few months. John is survived by his children and grandchildren, and a brother, George Gido, who still lives near the homestead where they grew up. Funeral arrangements by BEINHAUERS. DRISCOLL JAMES P., Sr. Jim Driscoll, passed away peacefully at home on November 21, 2017. His sons, Jim, Jr. and Kirk and daughters-in-law, Carly and Patty and wife, Sue Ann Driscoll were by his side. Jim was born in Pittsburgh on June 26, 1937. He worked for Eazor Express and Neoplan. His favorite job for 21 years was driving a school bus for North Allegheny School District. He loved cars and was a founding member of the North Hills Historic Auto Club. He enjoyed bicycling the trails with his buddies and traveling to places near and far with Sue Ann. He will be missed by his stepchildren, Laura L. Borg and John Thomas Lundy, Jr.; and grandchildren, Kayla Lundy and Justin and Sabrina Borg. As a Pittsburgh native, Joan will be most remembered for her love of family, faith, and patriotism. FITTING M. JOANNA “JO” Died peacefully on November 18, 2017, at Masonic Village in Sewickley, PA, surrounded by her loving family. Born Mary Joanna Jackson on September 14, 1928, in Pittsburgh, PA to Mabel Elizabeth Jackson (Newcomer) and John Henry Jackson. Joanna is survived by Paul Eric Fitting, beloved husband and best friend of 70 years; her three children, Jeffrey (Andrea), Christopher (Karen) and Lisa; and by her six grandchildren, Stephanie, Julia, Erik, Alexa, Isaac and Aaron. Preceded in death by her half sisters, Marge Zeilinski and Lois Brosi, she is also survived by her nephew, Brian Brosi. She was a 1950 graduate of the Art Department at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY. Before beginning work as an art teacher at the Rockville Center NY Schools, she traveled across Europe for three months, sparking a lifelong love of adventure. Jo and Paul married in 1951 and lived in Long Island, Birmingham, AL, Philadelphia, Milwaukee, Birmingham, MI and Pittsburgh. Her deep passion for art in all aspects included painting, drawing, jewelry making, crewel needlework, photography, poetry and music. Joanna was an early member of the North Hills Art Center, served as a docent at the Carnegie Art Museum for many years, and was a strong supporter of the arts. She and Paul loved the performing arts and were regular supporters of the Pittsburgh Symphony, the Pittsburgh Opera, the Pittsburgh Public Theatre, the Pittsburgh Irish and Classical Theatre and the Quantum. They traveled the world together, absorbing everything they could about the art, food and people of different countries. She spoke French and was an active member of the French Club. As early members of the Pittsburgh Council for International Visitors, Jo and Paul hosted visitors from around the world in their home, and were in turn invited to visit a few of them in Norway, France, Switzerland and Czechoslovakia. Jo was beloved by many because of her friendliness, grace and willingness to help others. She will be missed but never forgotten. ZUCK MARY MARGARET (LIGDAY) Age 83, of Lower Burrell, wife for 56 years of Walter Nelson Zuck, M.D., passed on Monday, Nov. 27, 2017. Mary M. was born Nov. 26, 1934, in Pittsburgh and was a near lifelong resident. Mary M. was a 1953 graduate of St. Benedict Academy. After marrying her husband, Mary M. raised her three children in Texas, Alabama and Lower Burrell. She enjoyed the life of a United States Air Force officer's wife, even when that involved seven moves in eight years. In Lower Burrell, Mary was an active member of the Citizens General Hospital Women's Medical Auxiliary, the Peoples Library Luncheon fundraiser, the AFS exchange program at Burrell High School, and she was behind the scenes active at St. Margaret Mary Church. Mary M. was also a 40-year member of the M.I. Hummel Club and enjoyed collecting the figurines and traveling with the club. Mary Margaret was preceded in death by her father, Francis Joseph Ligday, and mother, Elizabeth Catherine (Broderick) Ligday; brother, William Francis Ligday; sister, Bertha Jane (Ligday) Lamanna; and a son, Zichary Zachary Zuck. She is survived by a daughter, Janet Rose (Zippy) Zuck (New Kensington); and her daughters, Hannah and Emily Feroce; sons, Walter Michael Zuck (Taipei, Taiwan), wife, Bai Nai-Yu Zuck and their son, Zachary Michael, and Thomas Edward Zuck (Lower Burrell). Mary M. is also survived by a sister, Elizabeth Clare (Ligday) Wellman; and brothers, John Joseph Ligday, Terrance Joseph Ligday and Francis Joseph Ligday; as well as a great group of nieces, nephews and their children. In 1989 Mary M. began her 28-year battle to defeat cancer, with the help of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and the Eye & Ear Institute. Six times cancer called and six times Mary displayed grace, courage and a dogged spirit to win; which she did. Mary M. was a lifelong Duquesne Basketball fan and attendee at home games for most of her life. For decades she also attended Steelers, Pitt Football and Pitt Basketball games and was a fixture each year at the Big East Basketball Tournament. Mary M. was a voracious reader and enjoyed music, whether it was the Pittsburgh Symphony Pops or attending Grateful Dead concerts with the kids. Mary M. was an avid gardener and each year her gardens reflected her eclectic style with a wide range, and blooming schedule, of plants. Mary M. and her husband loved traveling. Born May 2, 1928, in Halstead, Kansas, she was the daughter of the late William and Iva Johnston and preceded in death by siblings Samuel Johnston, Gladys Partridge, Theodore Johnston, Ruby Ratzlaff, Wright Johnston, Elmer Johnston, Barbara Tassley, and Sharron Gaede. Wife of the late Alexis Little and survived by sons Michael Little (Colombus, WI), Patrick Little (Claremont, CA), and Steven Little (Pittsburgh, PA); beloved grandmother of Jennifer MacRostie, Kevin Little, Megan Little, Thomas Little, Alexa Little, and Caroline Little; great-grandmother of Deacon MacRostie. Pinky was a former Air Force nurse and devoted mother and grandmother. She provided her children and grandchildren with an excellent role model of a strong, independent woman and entertained us all with her stories of days past. ROTONTO EUGENE R. Age 86, of Markleysburg, PA, passed away November 27, 2017. He was born April 28, 1931 in Braddock, PA, son of the late Joseph and Gertrude Mastrilli Rotonto. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Anita in 2015. Eugene was a member of St. Joan of Arc R.C. Church in Farmington, PA. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Geneva College and taught school at Wilkinsburg High School for 30 years. He is survived by a brother, Ernest Rotonto and wife, Bonnie; nephews, Aaron Rotonto and Paul Rotonto and wife, Wendy; a great-nephew, Stephen Rotonto all of Turtle Creek, PA; and many cousins and godchildren. Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, FARMINGTON, PA Friday, December 1, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday until 9:30 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, Farmington, PA with Fr.
