KAZAKOS CHRIST Of Penn Hills, died peacefully on Thursday, August 24, 2017, at the age of 86. He was born in Ambridge on April 20, 1931, and was the son of the late Steve and late Anna Kazakos; devoted husband of Effie Kazakos for 58 years; loving father of Ann (Michael Duggan) Kazakos of Rochester, NY, George (Paula) Kazakos of York, PA and Christine (Burnette) Elam of Richmond, VA; proud grandfather of Alexis and Nicholas Duggan of Rochester, NY, Ashley and Lori Kazakos of York, PA and Lindsey and James Elam of Richmond, VA; brother of James Kazakos of Los Angeles, CA. Christ graduated from Ambridge High School in 1949 and the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Chemistry. Christ served two years in the US Army Military Police during the Korean War. He worked at the Atomic plant in Shippingport, which was the world's first full-scale atomic electric power plant devoted exclusively to peacetime. He then worked at US Steel plant in Duquesne as well as Pittsburgh Testing laboratory. He later served as a consultant for Bognar and company. He was an active member of Y.A.S.O.U. where he enjoyed the many trips that they took together. He was also enjoyed the many cruises that he took with his wife and friends. He also took pleasure in going to Atlantic City, where he was fond of the craps table. He was a member of the Presentation of Christ Greek Orthodox Church “Ypapanti “ in East Pittsburgh. CUNIMONDO ANITA (TIANI) At the age of 103, of Gibsonia, formerly of Penn Hills, passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2017. Born July 14, 1914, she was the devoted wife of the late Anthony Cunimondo, whom she married on May 17, 1934. She was the loving mother of Frank Cunimondo of Natrona Heights, Anita (Lou) Vestri of Gibsonia and the late Phyllis DeLuca. She was the adoring grandmother of Nikki (Tom) Woodrow, Chrissy (Mark) Wall, both of Gibsonia and Tina (Matt) Shamburg, of Plum Boro. She is also survived by her cherished great- grandchildren, Tyler and Joey Woodrow, Meghan Wall, Richard Driscoll and Giuliana Shamburg. Anita served as a volunteer at the Penn Hills Senior Center for 38 years. She drove her car until the age of 100, going to and from the Center every day, and enjoyed playing bingo until her death. She was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister. There will be no visitation. In accordance with the family wishes, the funeral will be private. Mary Lynne was the daughter of Robert and Dolores (Demi) Learish-Ogden. Mary Lynne was born in Clearfield, on April 16, 1957. Mary Lynne graduated from Clearfield Area High School and later received a Bachelor's of Education degree from Clarion University. Mary Lynne was a teacher in the Clearfield Area School District for nearly 30 years. Mary Lynne was preceded in death by her father, Robert Learish; and her stepfather, Howard Ogden. Mary Lynne is survived by her mother, Dolores Learish-Ogden; her husband, Timothy Meckey; her brother, Gordon (Phyllis) Learish; her sons, Matthew (Anna) and Kurt (Karlee) Meckey; her niece, Katie (Luke) Platania; and her grandchildren, Logan, Damian, and Lena Meckey. DUBUQUE DRU McELROY CAPTAIN, U.S.N. (Retired) Surrounded by her family and friends, Dru Dubuque passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2017, at Hospice of the Chesapeake in Edgewater, MD after a lengthy battle with cancer. After teaching high school English for several years in Pennsylvania, Dru joined the Navy in 1978, retiring in 2005 with the rank of Captain, having served tours of duty throughout Europe, the Mediterranean and the United States. One of her favorite assignments, however, was serving as an instructor at the Naval Academy in Annapolis where she was a Military Instructor and Associate Chair of the English Department. After retirement, Dru and her husband relocated to Enumclaw, WA where she made many good friends volunteering and playing her saxophone in community bands. She also pursued her love of teaching as a substitute teacher in the Enumclaw area. Upon returning to the east coast to be closer to family, Dru became a Visiting Professor of English at the Naval Academy at Annapolis for several years in 2014. With her devoted husband, retired Master Chief Petty Officer Jed Dubuque, Dru loved traveling the world; exploring Europe and Asia, sailing in the Greek isles, and hiking in Washington State. Dru was a voracious reader, expert on European history and a talented musician, performing with community musical groups until recently. Dru is survived by her husband, Jed Dubuque; stepdaughter, Nina (Brooks) Buser; and step-grandson, Beau Buser, of San Diego, CA; sisters, Frances (Alan) Cech of Pittsburgh, PA, the late Amy S. McElroy, Jennifer (Jason) Schwoebel of Mars, PA; nieces, Natasha (Andrew) Dickson of Mars, PA, and Alexandra Cech of Washington, D.C.; great- nieces, Aila and Elise Dickson of Mars, PA; sister-in-law, Dana (Edward) Wood of Aurora, CO; and brother- in-law, Tom (Peggy) Dubuque of New Braunfels, TX; and numerous friends and Navy "family" throughout the World.
