GOLEMBIEWSKI MARJORIE (MITCHELL) Of Arroyo Grande, California, passed away on January 17, 2017, age 91. Mrs. Golembiewski loved nothing more than her family. She enjoyed being surrounded by her loved ones and cooking for them. She had a passion for country and gospel music, which she passed on to her children and grandchildren. She worked tirelessly in businesses she owned with her husband until she retired at 71 when she moved from Pittsburgh to Arroyo Grande. Mrs. Golembiewski was the wife of the late Eugene Jim Golembiewski; loving and cherished mother of Eugene Golembiewski (Delores) of Gibsonia, Mary Gilbert (Keith), and Joseph Golembiewski (Wendy), both of Arroyo Grande; Best Granny of eight grandchildren; and Great- Granny of three great- grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers, Charles Mitchell and James Mitchell (Martha), both of Alabama; many nieces and nephews; and numerous other family and friends. Mrs. Golembiewski was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert H. "Jack", J.D., Lonnie T. "Tom", Joseph L. "Jody", Johnny, Bobby and Walter R. "Pete"; and sisters, Reesie Jones and Ola Lucquire. VARZALY MARTHA HELENA (GAYDOS) Age 84, of Sewickley, PA passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2017 in Bethlen Home in Ligonier. Born in 1932 as the sixth child of the late Very Rt. Rev. Stephen Varzaly and Anna Kristof, Martha was an extraordinary mother, mentor, friend and business owner. Creative and artistic. Demanding and encouraging. Beautiful. Proud Eagle Scout mother for her boys. Avid lacrosse mom for her girls. Neighborhood mother and advisor. Host to international musicians with the Sewickley music club. Guardian of animals and nature. Formerly, the owner and proprietor of the Clothes Chute antique and consignment shop in Ambridge. While much of her last few years were challenged by the effects of Parkinson's Disease she was an inspiration to others by always being there and thoroughly engaging in whatever she did by lending a hand or an ear. As one of the early recipients of DBS surgery to counteract the effects of Parkinson's, she remained active and involved in further research in movement disorders. Preceded in death by her son, Daniel Gaydos, she is survived by her three children, Timothy Gaydos of Simi Valley, CA, Maria Gaydos of Dallas, TX, and Valerie Gaydos of both Sewickley, PA and Baltimore, MD. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Lou Lazor of Monroeville, PA and numerous nieces and nephews. SHOPLIK JOSEPH RICHARD Age 86, of Southwest Greensburg, died Monday, January 23, 2017, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. He was born March 16, 1930, in Star Junction, a son of the late Michael and Verna (Serenko) Shoplik. Prior to retirement, he had been employed for 35 years at Jeannette Glass Corporation and later for the Association for Retarded Citizens. He was a member of St. Paul Parish, Greensburg, where he had served as an usher for many years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1480, Greensburg, had been a volunteer for the Meals on Wheels program and was a Navy veteran serving during the Korean War aboard the U.S.S. Bennington. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael and Emil; and two sisters, Elizabeth and Josephine. He was the last member of his birth family. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rosemarie (Musingo) Shoplik; two sons, Michael Shoplik and wife Ann of Pittsburgh and Joseph Shoplik and wife, Gerrie of Greensburg; his daughter, Dianne Horn and husband, Dan of Pittsburgh; and five grandchildren, Helena Shoplik, Anthony Shoplik, Eric Horn, Mary Kay Horn and Samuel Shoplik. An Army veteran serving in WWII, he held jobs with A & S Railroad and Aetna Standard and taught English at Lincoln High School. He served as a United Methodist Pastor in churches throughout Western PA, and later in Gainesville, FL until he retired in 2003. Vic was an accomplished violinist and violist. He played for many years with the Carnegie Civic Symphony, now the Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra. He was preceded in death by his wife, Molly; his oldest son, Victor; and his granddaughter, Abby Marie Rectenwald. He is survived by his sons, Charles Brown and John (Andrea) Brown; and his daughter, Sandi (Jerry) Rectenwald, and "daughter", Carole Brown; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She lived most of her adult life in Connecticut and was very involved in her children's activities, community and charitable organizations. Ann served as president of Altrusa, a women's business and philanthropic organization; was employed by Textron Lycoming where she met her late husband, Bob. Ann cherished her Catholic faith, her family and her Irish heritage. She was a faithful member of Our Lady of Grace Parish in Stratford, CT where she taught Religious education. Ann was a member of the Irish American Community Center in New Haven and spent many years marching in the St. Patrick's Day Parade with the Mayo Men. When Ann wasn't taking care of others, her passions included Bridge, golfing and reading. She was a member of ACBL and the Singles Intermediate Bridge Clubs in New Haven. She was born July 1, 1931, in Burgettstown, a daughter of the late David and Mary T. Bell McCoy. Mary Agnes was a survivor and a true lady. Her appearance, always one of impeccable style and taste, with each outfit accentuated perfectly with just the right scarf and jewelry, hair always in place. She was a lady with true class. She devoted her life to the care and welfare of others, giving loving care to those in her charge. Mary was a deeply religious woman, generous with both her time and what money she had. She attended Midway School and was an ardent Steelers and Pirates fan. Surviving are a number of cousins, nieces and nephews and her friend, Gail Harper.
