KOERBEL TIMOTHY JOHN January 10, 1987 - January 12, 2017. Timothy John Koerbel, age 30, of Pittsburgh, passed away suddenly January 12, 2017. Born January 10, 1987, he was the beloved son of William and Carolyn Koerbel. Brother to Michael Koerbel (Rochelle), Holly Koerbel, Heather Koerbel, Jennifer Koerbel and Marnie Bechtold (Kurtis); uncle to Emily, Zachary, Austin, Abi, Brandon, Noah, Eddie, Hunter and Layne; nephew to many loving aunts and uncles and he will be greatly missed by his longtime girlfriend, Ashley McGrady, and their first child expected in June. CISSNA MARGARET NAN STEWART Mrs. Margaret Nan Stewart Cissna, 97, of Upper St. Clair, PA, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2017, at the Friendship Village Health Center, Pittsburgh, PA. Nan was born to William Parr and Helen Deindorfer Stewart in Cleveland, OH. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Hempstead Cissna. Nan is survived by her son, Robert of Bridgeville, PA; son, William (Kathy) of Kernersville, NC; grandson, Andrew (Sarah) of Washington, DC; and great-granddaughter, Elinor. Nan graduated from Miami University, Oxford, OH, and taught in public school in Shaker Heights, OH. She met Dave at Miami U., and they married on March 14, 1942 in Harrisburg, PA, during Dave's service in World War II. The couple lived in Cleveland, Chicago, Kalamazoo, MI and Pittsburgh. They adopted two sons. In addition to numerous activities and volunteer service, Nan was a homemaker prior to moving to Friendship Village in 2003. A memorial service for Nan will be held at Friendship Village at a later date. The family would like to share special thanks with the staff at the Friendship Village Health Center and Kindred Hospice for their concern and special care. KIRWIN RICHARD OTIS October 10, 1922 - December 15, 2016, Ventura, CA - Richard "Dick" Kirwin, formerly of Verona, passed peacefully on December 15, 2016, at the age of 94, in Ventura, California. Dick was married to Dolores Elaine Kirwin (Schoenfelder), who predeceased him in 2003. Dick was born and raised in Coraopolis, son of Ester and Roscoe Kirwin. He was a graduate of Coraopolis High School. During WWII, he piloted P-47 Thunderbolts and saw action during and after D-Day for which he was awarded the Purple Heart with an oak leaf cluster and the Air Medal with three oak leaf clusters. As a result of injuries received in combat, he was hospitalized for two years at Valley Forge Hospital. Upon release in 1944, he returned to Pittsburgh and married Elaine in 1948. They settled on Riverside Drive in Verona in 1953. Dick and Elaine were avid golfers and loved to travel and dance. They were members of Churchill Country Club. He was a business manager with Gulf Oil in Delmont until his retirement in 1981. In 1987 they relocated to Oceanside, California to be closer to their grandchildren and only daughter, Lynne. Dick is survived by his second wife of ten years, Bernice "Bunny" Kirwin of Ventura, CA; his daughter, Lynne Lightfoot (husband Lou) of Encinitas, CA; two granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and his 98 year old brother, Fred Kirwin of Trenton, New Jersey. BARRETTA JOHN G. “LOBO” Age 88, of McKeesport, died Jan. 11, 2017. He was the son of the late Earnest L. and Mary (Lebanno) Barretta and the husband of Aurora (Marchetti) Barretta. John was a member of St. Patrick Church. A U.S. Army veteran, he served as a medic in the Korean War. John worked as a barber throughout his life and retired as a quality control inspector with Westinghouse Airbrake in Wilmerding. He was an avid sports fan, and especially enjoyed watching his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers. In addition to his wife, survivors include daughter, Joanna (Dave) Robinson of Upper St. Clair; son, Ernest (Cindy) Barretta of Perry Hall, MD; granddaughters, Danielle and Isabella; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; nieces and nephews. WEISS LUCILLE “LIBBY” JACOBS Departed this life on January 10, 2017, in Reseda, CA at 94 good years of age. Libby was born and raised in Denver, the daughter of Sam Jacobs and Rebecca Levine, and received an RN degree from St. Anthony's nursing school, after which she enlisted in the Army as a First Lt. and served throughout Asia in WWII where she met her future husband. After the war, they settled in his hometown of Pittsburgh and raised three children in Mt. Lebanon, PA where she worked at St. Clair Hospital. She moved to LA and continued nursing there at Midway Hospital until retirement. She adored all animals, especially dogs, played violin, painted, decorated, danced and loved life. She was predeceased by her brother, Norman; sister, Florence and half siblings, Ethel, Abraham, Ben and Bert. She is survived by daughter, Cheri Raimondi of New Port Richey, FL; sons, Dr. Robert Weiss of Pittsburgh, Dr. Steven Weiss of New York City; grandchildren, Adam, Dustin, Eric and Toby; and great- grandchildren, Spencer, Ben, Amelia and Leah. BUCKLEY WILLIAM PATRICK “BILL” Passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 in The Woodlands, Texas. Bill was born in Berkeley, California to Walter Daniel Buckley and Louise Avery Latimer on April 22, 1935. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Marian Durham O'Brien. They were married in 1957. Bill Buckley and his future wife graduated from Berkeley High School in 1952 where Bill distinguished himself as a champion swimmer specializing in the butterfly stroke. From high school Bill went on to make fond memories of Idaho University in Moscow, Idaho for two years. While in Idaho he worked as a radio disc jockey which led to work on the sportscaster desk of the Idaho Vandals football team. In 1955 Bill transferred to the University of California at Berkeley to be closer to his high school sweetheart, Marian. Bill relished his memory of being a member of the Cal University Marching Band playing clarinet. After earning a Associate Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Bill went on to receive a Master Business Arts degree from UC Berkeley and soon after embarked on a 34 year career with Alcoa Aluminum in computer systems. Bill's love for music followed him throughout his life. He was a long time subscriber to the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and collected over 1000 CD's of classical music. Toward the end of his life he held a weekly class of music at the nursing home where he resided. Bill spent much of his retirement years as a docent at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. As an amateur paleontologist, Bill is remembered by family and friends alike for his very popular tours of the museum dinosaur exhibit. Bill was well known as a leader on the Allegheny County Transit Council, advocating for better bus transportation throughout the city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Bill was quite successful as a participant and leader of the Toastmasters Club, first as a contestant in the Alcoa chapter and then as founder and leader of the Allegheny Center Chapter in Pittsburgh. Bill is survived by three sons; John Paul (Kathryne) Buckley residing in The Woodlands, Texas, James Michael (Elizabeth) Buckley residing in San Francisco, California and Kenneth David (Lisa) Buckley who reside in the United Kingdom. NARR JANE Z. Our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and great- aunt, Jane Z. Narr, died December 29, 2016 in Punta Gorda, FL, aged 100 years, seven months and 23 days. She was the last of a generation of Narrs and Zarembas, Bridgemans and Zielinskis, Staubs and Malburgs, Herders and Ciprianis who flourished in Pittsburgh, PA from the early days of the twentieth century. "All these were honored in their generation and were the glory of their times." (Ecclesiastes 44:7) They were mail carriers and millworkers, grocery store managers and retail clerks, insurance claim adjusters and county employees. None were rich, famous or powerful. But all left a second generation of fortunate sons and daughters to honor their memory, along with friends and an extended family acquired through marriage. Jane was predeceased by her father and mother, Jan Zaremba and Stephania Zielinska of Pittsburgh; and by her beloved husband, Eugene G. Narr, Jr., also of Pittsburgh; by her sisters, Alice Zaremba, Harriet Herder and Irene Kolby; and by son-in-law, T. Craig Martin of Port Charlotte, FL. She is survived by her much-loved children, David N. Narr and Wife, Seafair, of Virginia Beach, VA; daughter, Christina A. Narr of Port Charlotte, FL; and by grandchildren, Olivia A. Narr of Atlanta, GA and David W. Narr of Norfolk, VA; and by a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Jane and Gene Narr were longtime residents of Lawrenceville and Ingomar. EGAN ROBERT BRENNAN Age 86, of Gulf Stream, FL and formerly of Fox Chapel, PA, died peacefully Tuesday afternoon, January 10, 2017, in the company of his wife Barbara and family. He was born on January 4, 1931, son of Judge John P. and Luceille Murray Egan of Pittsburgh, PA. He graduated from Shady Side Academy in Pittsburgh, and subsequently received a BA from Yale College and an MBA from the Harvard Business School. He served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army. In 1956, he married the former Ann Ames Midwood of Nayatt Point, Rhode Island with whom he had four children. Bob began his professional career with Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corporation. Over the next 28 years, he was promoted through increasingly challenging sales and marketing roles, culminating in his elevation to Group President of the Metals and Metal Products Group of Allegheny International. In 1985, Bob and an investor group acquired Alloys Rods Corporation, a specialty welding products manufacturer. As Chairman and CEO of Alloy Rods, he significantly increased sales and profitability by developing innovative products and opening production facilities in Asia and Europe. He sold Alloy Rods in 1989 to The ESAB Group. Bob served on numerous corporate boards, including Titanium Metals Corporation of America, Rob Roy Industries and Elliott Turbomachinery. He loved golf - the competition, the traditions and the lifelong friendships developed through the game. Bob always worked on "his game" and rarely shied away from offering swing advice to anyone who asked. He was particularly proud of his numerous club championship titles, as well as his 1992 victory in the Western Pennsylvania Senior Amateur Championship. Bob served as President of the Fox Chapel Golf Club and President of the Pennsylvania Golf Association. He was a longtime member of the United States Seniors' Golf Association and a regular competitor on the Pennsylvania team of the Lesley Cup. Bob also gave back to the community, especially to organizations providing drug and alcohol rehabilitation services. He was particularly committed to the mission of Gateway Rehab serving as a long-term board member and then Chairman of the Board from 1990 to 1995. He also served as a Trustee of Shady Side Hospital for many years. While in Florida, he supported Wayside House in Delray Beach, FL. Bob also served as an Adjunct Professor of Industrial Marketing at the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University for several years. Most of all, Bob will be remembered for his love of family, friends and life. He never lost his passion for getting the most out of each day, celebrating time spent with his numerous grandchildren, extended family and lifelong friends. He loved to meet new people, enthusiastically sharing his energy and sense of humor. Bob happily imparted his pearls of wisdom and life advice to his grandchildren, who affectionately called him "Bubs." He is survived by his wife, Barbara Forrester Egan, who brought him great joy and happiness in his later life. He was predeceased by his first wife, Ann Midwood Egan, to whom he was married 55 years. He is also survived by his children, Robert B. Egan, Jr., of Oakland, CA, Emily E. Thomas of Wilmette, IL, George M. Egan of Jacksonville, FL, and Sarah E. Hebert of South Berwick, ME; daughters-in-law, Kimberly W. Egan and Anne T. Egan; sons-in-law, Douglas P. Thomas and Edward A. Hebert; and 11 grandchildren.
