HOLLSTEIN LILLIAN LOUISE DEXTE...
HOLLSTEIN LILLIAN LOUISE DEXTER On Christmas morning, our dear mother, Lillian Louise Dexter Hollstein, born on March 29, 1920, is finally resting peacefully with her late husband, Frank Edman, M.D. and her beloved son, Mark Edman Hollstein. She is survived by a son, Paul (Lynda); daughters, Christy (Rob) Hofmann, Nancy (Don) Heron; and four grandchildren, Robert (Katie) Edman, Adam Christian Hofmann, Chase Michael, and Katie Louise Evans. Most recently, Louise was blessed with the arrival of twin great-grandchildren, Robert Edman, Jr. and Scarlett Elizabeth Hofmann. Louise was a very quiet and private person, but stronger in character than she really ever knew. Having survived lymphoma at age 70, she went on to help raise Nancy's children, Chase and Katie, after the death of their father, Mike. Many trips to Harmarville ice rink to watch three grandsons practice and skate in hockey games as well as accompanying Katie to dance and cheerleading practices kept her busy throughout the 90s. In 2002, Louise lost her left leg due to effects of chemotherapy and radiation. Her drive to live life fully despite her disability was remarkable for she continued to drive, shop, and live independently until she was 94. Sherwood Oaks retirement community was a perfect fit for Louise. She made many wonderful friends there. She participated in ceramics classes and the Caps for Kids program, where she knitted hundreds of unique children's hats. Our family is very appreciative of all the help she received at Sherwood Oaks. At every stage of her life she was treated with kindness and respect. She loved every single nurse and aide she met. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, please honor Louise by donating to those who cared for her, the SORA Fund, Sherwood Oaks retirement community, 100 Norman Drive, Cranberry Township, PA 16066. We will miss her bright blue eyes, her beautiful smile, and her kind disposition. We love you mom.
