Sophie was a clerk with A&P Tea Co. in PA with over 20 years of service and was a member of the Historical Society. She moved to Port Charlotte in September 2013. She is survived by her daughter, Jean M. Miller; sister, Flora Onesi; four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and three great-great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George E. WILSON DOROTHY HEASLEY Age 90, passed away June 3, 2016, at Gulf Coast Medical Center, Fort Myers, Florida. She was born in East Palestine, Ohio on March 15, 1926. Her mother died when she was a young girl and she and her sister Shirley were raised by her mother's sisters Dorothy and Esmeralda, who stepped in to help her father after her mother's death. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Sarah Kirtley Heasley, and a sister, Beverly who died at birth. She was married to the love of her life, Thomas E. Wilson for 69 years, and the two lived most of their married life in the greater Pittsburgh area until they retired to Fort Myers in the early 1990's. Dorothy worked in the Penn Hills, Pennsylvania school system for many years before retiring. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Thomas; sister, Shirley Heasley of Albuquerque, NM; sons, Jeffrey (Donna) and Mark (Emily); grandchildren, Parker Reed, Kendra Foskey (Trevor), Justin Wilson (Shanna), and Alexander Wilson; and seven great-grandchildren. Dorothy was a devoted Christian and member of Cypress Lake Presbyterian Church, Ft. Myers. MAXIN GEORGEINE ANNE Age 67, Johnson City, TN, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2016, at her residence. She was a native of Pittsburgh, PA and daughter of the late George and Rita Urbaniak Panousis. In addition to her parents, Georgeine was preceded in death by her brother, Vincent Panousis, mother and father-in-law, Mary and Carl "Tut" Maxin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joseph, Gladys, Carl, Robert, John, George, Martha, Janet, Donna, and John Gariti. She attended East Tennessee State University. Georgeine enjoyed painting when she was younger. In her later years, she enjoyed doing crafts, sewing, photography, and especially spending time with her grandchildren. Those left to cherish Georgeine's memory include her husband, Andrew M. Maxin; daughters, Lisa Judd and her husband, Andy, Jessica Maxin; grandchildren, Samuel Judd, and Lillian Judd; sister-in-law, Carol Panousis; many nieces and nephews also survive. Beloved wife to William Kavalkovich; survived by son, William Dean, daughter-in-law, Susan Mahler and granddaughter, Sarah Rose Kavalkovich of Cobalt, CT; son, Karl of Wallingford, PA; and daughter, Tanya of South Hills, Pittsburgh, PA. Born in Elgin, Illinois, she was a classical music enthusiast, graphic artist, and avid canoeist. She loved being a Girl Scout camp counselor/naturalist. After graduating high school, she worked her way through art school in Milwaukee, WI that led her to a career in the 1950s as an artist for Hallmark cards in Kansas City, MO. Married for 52 years in Monroeville, PA, Helen and Bill were founding members of their East Suburban Unitarian Universalist Church as well as the Foxwood Swim Club. She taught piano lessons for 25-plus years, and played viola in various local community orchestras. She also played in a string quartet, and in the Tuesday Musical Club chamber ensemble. She gardened, and composed music and created art on her computer into her 80s. CHILDS SALLY HILLMAN A resident of Pittsburgh for 85 years, Sally Hillman Childs died on June 10, 2016, at the Academy at Bella Vista in Boulder, CO. The youngest of four sisters, she was born at Magee-Womens Hospital on November 21, 1927, to the late James Frazer Hillman and Marguerite Wright Hillman. Sally attended the Ellis School in Pittsburgh, graduated from Chatham Hall in Chatham, VA, and earned her Bachelor of Arts from Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, NY where she was elected student body president. Later, she earned her Master's in Religious Education from the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. Sally believed passionately in Christian education, prison reform, civic involvement, service to those in need and the arts. A lifelong member of Calvary Episcopal Church, she went from teaching Sunday school to heading up the Church's education program. She was a founder of Lydia's Place, an outreach program designed to help female offenders better transition. In 2013, she was awarded the organization's first Sally Hillman Childs Rising Sun award "mirroring the same volunteer spirit of Sally H. Childs." An inaugural member of the Women's Committee of Carnegie Museum, Sally was a co-founder of the Three Rivers Arts Festival. She was also an avid artist herself, especially during summers in her beloved Adirondacks. Both a creative thinker and a pragmatic organizer, Sally strove all her life to let others be their best selves. Sally served on numerous boards and committees throughout her life. Most were in Pittsburgh. Active in the Pittsburgh Diocese's Deaconate program, she was a board member of the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and the Episcopal Church Foundation in New York. She married J. Mabon Childs of Pittsburgh at Calvary on June 18, 1949. He preceded her in death in 2004. Her three sisters, Constance Hillman Oliver O'Neil, Marguerite Hillman Purnell and Audrey Hillman Hilliard, also precede her, as well as their husbands, John C. Oliver, Jr., George P. O'Neil, Richard I. Purnell and Thomas J. Hilliard, Jr. Sally is survived by her four children and their spouses, J. Mabon Childs, Jr. and Holly of Raleigh, NC, Marguerite Hillman Childs Detmer and Tom of Denver, CO, Laura Childs Saverin and Ken of New Canaan, CT, Sally Childs Walsh and Alec of Basking Ridge, NJ; as well as 11 grandchildren, Frazer (Adam) Roche, Ellie (Tim Romano) Childs, Matthew (Jennifer) Detmer, Sarah (Thatcher) Martin, Tommy (Leigh) Detmer, Margot (Will) Stanley, Hilary Saverin, Mary Walsh, Emily Detmer, Diana Saverin and Alex Walsh; as well as six great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
