MARIE L. McKAY Passed away peacefully on December 28 at Concordia of Franklin Park. Born on September 17, 1932, she was a lifelong resident of Pittsburgh's North Side. Marie was predeceased in death by her parents, James A and Hazel (Patton) and by her siblings, James P. (Ruth) McKay, Regis (Ruth) McKay, John (Margaret) McKay, Anthony (Margaret) McKay and Elizabeth (Joseph) Organisak. Marie made good friends easily in her neighborhood and at Concordia. Marie's favorite activity was playing bingo at every opportunity. She was a devout Catholic and worked many years at Eye and Ear Hospital. Marie dearly loved all of her nieces and nephews, Patrice McCarthy, Paul McKay, Maureen McKay, Marigrace McKay, Daniel McKay, Kathy Albosta, Karen McKay (deceased), Kim McKay, James McKay, John McKay, Richard McKay, Michael McKay, Margaret McKay, Patrick McKay, Robert McKay, Janice McKay (deceased), Mark Organisak, Rita Laur, David Organisak and Paul Organisak. Marie is also survived by great-nieces and nephews and by great-great-nieces and nephews. Joyce received her Masters from the University of Pittsburgh and was a former employee of Senator Arlen Spector for over eight years, then was self employed in her Hallmark store in Zelienople for eight years before moving to Phoenix, AZ and working in furniture sales until retiring and moving back to Pittsburgh. Joyce will be sadly missed by all who knew her. DEBORAH "DEBBIE" "DEB" LEA DeCANN Deborah "Debbie" "Deb" Lea DeCann was born on April 25, 1953 to Leatrice Alice and Kenneth Joseph “KJ” Gravatt in Kansas City, Missouri where KJ was stationed while serving his country. Debbie grew up first in Pennsylvania and then California, where she graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School (San Jose, CA) in 1971. After graduating she worked for the United States Post Office, and later for the United States Federal Government. In 1980 Debbie welcomed her only child, Heather Anne, while living in Northern California. A few years later, in 1984, Debbie and Heather moved to central Alaska where Debbie worked for the Internal Revenue Service, The United States Post Office, and The United States Federal Government. In the early 1990's she moved back to Pennsylvania, then to California, and finally back to Pennsylvania in 2010. After retiring in 2016, Debbie enjoyed traveling and spending time with her four grandchildren. Debbie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Joseph King, as well as her beloved grandchildren, Braedyn (19), Lily Belle (10), William (8), and Owen (4). In addition, she leaves four brothers, Sam “Butch” (Michelle) Rivera, Bob (Tina) Aguirre, Frank (Trudie) Gravatt, and Kenny (Kirsten) Gravatt. Debbie will also be missed by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends spanning the entire country. She was preceded in death by her dearly loved father, her mother, and her step mother. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations, in any amount, to use toward her final expenses as her death has added a financial burden. LaVERNE (McCLOSKY) CONRAD Age 88, of North Versailles, died Sunday, December 29, 2019. She was born January 31, 1931 in McKeesport, a daughter of the late Edward and Wanda (Jakowski) McCloskey. LaVerne became an inspiration to all who knew her by her love of music and her playing the organ and singing the songs she played. She entertained her friends and family and loved an audience. Her fastidious approach to fashion and decorating with many sewing, embroidery, and crafty talents leaves her family with countless memories of her artistic abilities. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. Conrad; her sons-in-law, Daniel Keating and Salvatore Pappalardo; and her brothers, Edward, Bernard “Bud”, and Harry McCloskey. She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Keating of White Oak and Robin “Bobbi” Pappalardo of North Versailles; her granddaughters, Lauren Keating (Clarence Culbertson) and Megan (Adam) Saad; also numerous nieces and nephews. Born June 21, 1932 in East Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Sophia (Gorence) Zupancic. A 1950 graduate of Scott High School, Louise worked as a secretary for Mine Safety Appliance, Inc. of Wilkinsburg. She was a parishioner of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in McKeesport, was a past president of the Christian Mothers' Assoc. of both Sacred Heart and St. Martin de Porres Parishes, was a member of the CFU Lodge #3; and an active volunteer at McKeesport Hospital and numerous area locations. Louise is survived by her husband, William M. Mandekic; her children, Cynthia (Rodger) Downes of McKeesport, Gary (Diana) Mandekic of Derry Twp., Daniel (Samantha) Mandekic of Hopwood, and Darlene (Albert) Fine of Forward Twp.; her grandchildren, Ryan Mandekic and Alyssa, Danica, and Chloe Fine; her great-grandchildren, Alex and Denver; and also nieces and nephews. MARGARET GILL We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved mother, Marge Gill of Bethel Park, on December 29, 2019. Marge was born on July 28, 1928, in Youngstown, Ohio, the youngest of eight children born to Mary Varga and John Toth. She was predeceased by all of her siblings. Marge was a loving mother who dedicated herself to raising seven successful children and keeping a spotless home. She was a great cook and avid gardener who inspired a love of cooking and gardening in her children. Marge always took special pride in her appearance, even in her later years insistent on keeping herself made-up and wearing the latest fashions. She was a ferocious Scrabble player and often enjoyed a heated game with her family and with her dear friend, Anita Potocar. She was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Ray W. Gill, and by her loving companion of 10 years, Chi Graziani. ANNA M. LAPP Age 88, of McCandless Twp., on Sunday, December 29, 2019. Beloved wife of the late Robert E. Lapp; loving mother of Robert Lapp (Nancy), Catherine Scherer (Ralph) and Mary Lynn Risley (Chip); grandmother of Megan Simpson, Ashley Bachman, Kurt Scherer, Katie Hockenberry, Matt Risley, Kristen Hayes and Evan Risley; great-grandmother of Tyler Simpson, Maci Bachman, Riley Hayes, Cooper Hayes and Albie Risley. Anna attended St. Benedicts Academy in the North Side where she met her future husband, Robert while playing on the girls basketball team and a longtime member of St. Alexis Church in Wexford. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be missed by all who knew her. Friends will be received Thursday, January 2, 2020 from 5-8 p.m. at the GEORGE A. THOMA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 10418 Perry Hwy., Wexford, PA 15090. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 3, 2020 at 10 a.m. in St. Alexis Church, Wexford.
