Dan was the last surviving of their 10 children, Uncle Dan to many nieces and nephews. Also a WWII veteran with the Army Air Force. Josephine and Dan raised their family while he worked many years as a bookkeeper in the transfer and storage industry. In retirement, he devoted many years in volunteer services at Mercy Hospital. RONALD LLOYD HENRY On Wednesday, November 27, 2019, Ronald L., age 71, of Wilmington, NC, formerly of Sheraden. Dear son of Jean Henry Martonic and the late Donald Henry; beloved husband for 46 years of Sara "Sally" Lerner Henry; loving father of Donald "Jim" (Jessica) Henry; and grandfather of Julianna Belle Henry and Madeline Mae Henry; dear brother of D. Wayne (Mary) Henry. Ron grew up in and around the Crafton-Ingram-Sheraden area, and graduated from Langley High School in 1966. He served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War, and was stationed at the Phu-Cat Airbase in 1969 and 1970. Upon returning home, he joined the US Army Reserves and was assigned to the 420th Engineering Company. Ron and his wife, Sally, were married in 1973. Ron worked on Neville Island for the U.S. Chemical Corporation, and retired in 2006. In 2007, Ron and Sally moved to Wilmington, NC, where they have lived ever since. Ron was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, was an avid history buff, and took great enjoyment in visiting places of historic significance, and in discussing history with his daughter-in-law. Ron also enjoyed traveling, landscaping, wine, and, above all, spending time with family. He took great care of his family, and put them first in all of his thoughts and efforts. Ron battled a heart condition with great persistence over a period of 28 years, and lived to spend plenty of time with his granddaughters, his greatest pride. DOROTHY ALFREDA (HIGGINS) WHITE Age 90, of Mt. Lebanon passed peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, November 29, 2019 after a prolonged battle with dementia. Beloved wife for 63 years of the late John Edward Ed' White; devoted mother of John Edward Ned White, Jr. of Milwaukee and St. Thomas, USVI; loving grandmother of Margaret Maggie (Daniel) Taylor of St. Thomas, USVI; cherished aunt and great-aunt of more than 60 nieces and nephews; sister of the late Catherine O'Toole Schieb, Eileen Rollins, Margaret Higgins, Patricia Anne Meyer, John Higgins; beloved cousin of the late Mary Mercy Merce Corbett Durkin. Her parents were Irish immigrants Margaret (Corbett) and Patrick Higgins and she was a proud Oakland Irish. She attended Cathedral grade school and high school. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1947. She was a member of the Theda Phi Alpha sorority and stayed life-long friends (and bridge partners) with her sorority sisters. One of her TPA sisters and future sister-in-law, Marianne White Buerkle, introduced her to her future husband. An avid and expert bridge player, she played in multiple weekly groups until she entered Asbury Heights. Though a devoted homemaker, she gave generously of her time to many organizations and volunteered to St. Anne's Church in Castle Shannon and to South Hills Catholic HS where her son attended. At St. Anne's, she was famous for running the Attic resale shop at the church's annual fair. The St. Anne's community provided not only faith but numerous friends over the decades. She and her husband were especially fond of their annual cruises throughout the Caribbean with their St. Anne's group. The high point of her summers were the month long annual Irish family reunion/vacations in Stone Harbor and Avalon where she and her sisters and their families shared The Craic' with multiple generations all piled together in a single waterfront home. The family would like to thank the entire loving and caring staff Asbury Heights Senior Community for these past four years where both Dorothy and her husband, Ed, spent their final days. In particular Stacey Schaeffer and her amazing team with Family Hospice, who offered insights, sensitivity, loving care and support during the final transition. CHARLES EDWARD DUNLEA Charles Edward Dunlea was born to Elizabeth Murray and Edward Dunlea of Pittsburgh at 4:45 a.m. at West Penn Hospital on December 1, 2019. Charlie was a tenacious little boy who beat the odds to be born alive and grace his parents with 90 minutes of life, spent peacefully in their loving arms. In addition to his parents, Charlie is survived by his big brother, Ambrose Dunlea. He is also survived by his grandfather, Ambrose Murray of Pittsburgh; his grandparents, Cheryl and William Dunlea of Medfield, MA; his aunt and uncle, Catherine Murray and Adam Agalloco of Philadelphia; and his uncle, aunt, and cousins, Steven, Kathleen, Emily, and Tyler Dunlea of Attleboro, MA. He was welcomed into heaven by his grandmother, Maureen Murray. Charlie will always be his parents' cherished son. His life was a blessing, and he taught us about hope, courage, and love for the most vulnerable among us. For a few years, he was also a NASCAR Crew Chief for a local race team. He enjoyed golfing, working on cars, boating and watching the Steelers win on Sundays as well as enjoying NASCAR racing events. He then spent the majority of his life living in the village of Clinton outside of Freeport, Pennsylvania, alongside the Allegheny River. Thomas was a United States Air Force veteran who served during the Korean War era, eventually reaching the rank of Senior Airman before being honorably discharged with a service-related injury. After his military service, Thomas attended trade school and worked as an industrial engineer in the Western Pennsylvania area, working for companies such as Alcoa, Pittsburgh Forgings, Pittsburgh Nipple Works, Papercraft, General Tire, and General Electric. Thomas was a polymath and homesteader. From a young age, he lived a life of self-sufficiency. In high school, he earned money by trapping foxes who had a governmental bounty. Later in life, he ran his own small business called Stewart Engineering where he would exercise his talent in fiberglass molding and automobile part fabrication. In his spare time, Thomas was a skilled motorcycle racer and enjoyed gardening. He was an experimental aircraft enthusiast and was actively working on designing and building his own airplane until his age caught up to him, prompting him to spend the last years of his life in a Greensburg retirement community. In his final season of life, he enjoyed spending a lot of time with his sons, sipping on an occasional malt liquor, and relaxing. Thomas is survived by his children, Phillip, Thomas, Jr., and Beverly; siblings, Jim and his wife, Dorothy, Nancy; his grandchildren, Gannon, Sabrina, Alaina, Ella, Alexander, and Claire; and his brother-in-law, Harry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Charles Stewart and Maria Agnes Kathrine; siblings, Harry Stewart, Bart (Sam) Stewart, and Ricky Stewart Sharrot; and numerous adopted dogs who he loved. Thomas died peacefully of natural causes while under the care of caring nurses and family members. The family has concluded private funeral services. However, the family will be hosting a memorial service at The Clement in Tarentum in the early summer where all are welcome to attend and celebrate Thomas' life.
