ROBERTA "ROBIN" (SEXTON) LOBDELL Age 71, of South Fayette, formerly of Westwood, peacefully passed away on Friday, August 9, 2019 with her family by her side. Beloved wife of Whitney Lobdell for 44 years; loving mother of Adam (Emily) Lobdell and Caitlin (Corey) Bauman; treasured grammy of Shae, Lily, and Remi Bauman; caring sister of John (MaryBeth) Sexton, Tim (Bobbie) Sexton, and Colleen (Ed) Smith; daughter of the late Bernice and Jack Sexton; stepdaughter of the late Elwood Emory; also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Robin was the matriarch of her family, always able to bring everyone together for family events. She will be remembered for her great sense of humor, ability to talk to anyone, and most of all love of family. Robin will be truly missed by all who knew her. THERESE M. COSTA Devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Therese passed away on August 9, 2019 at 81, after a valiant fight with cancer. She attended St. Paul's Cathedral High School in Oakland and worked as a secretary after graduation. She wed Ralph Costa in 1958 and was married for almost 50 years when he passed in 2008. She was the mother of Dr. Ralph F. “Skip” (Karen) Costa of Voorhees, NJ, Therese M. “Terry” (Matt) Fisher of Glendora, CA, Paul J. (Rashida) Costa; grandmother of Julia, Jonathan, and Antares Costa, and Greg, Eric and Jacob Fisher; great-grandmother to Luca and Meadow Fisher; and sister of Richard (Barbara) Schram of Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Therese was a library assistant at Shady Side Academy for over 40 years and thrived off of the youthful energy of the students. She was a longtime member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Middle Road, and dedicated to many church activities and committees. Therese was a Steelers and Penguin fanatic, a self-appointed ambassador for the City of Pittsburgh, and known for her enthusiastic celebration of Halloween and Christmas. She was a loyal and loving friend to young and old and lit up the room wherever she went. While she loved a good bargain, she spared no expense when it came to the needs of family and friends. She loved life and was always willing to try anything – even riding a dirt bike for the first time at 79 years old. Her zest for life was contagious and will be missed by everyone. CATHERINE MARIE "CATHY" (TATKOVSKI) McELROY Age 51, of Middlesex Twp., passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at her home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with ALS. Born in Camp Hill, PA, on April 26, 1968, she is the daughter of William A. and Anna Neverosky Tatkovski of Chambers Hill, PA. A 1986 graduate of Bishop McDevitt, Cathy went on to further her education at Duquesne University where she earned her MBA. She also became a Certified Professional Supply Manager. Cathy had worked as a buyer for Bayer. She was a member of St. Victor Parish in Bairdford. An avid book reader and a great tennis player, Cathy was also a huge foodie. She read countless books about food, watched cooking shows, and even attended food show tours. In addition to her parents, surviving are her husband, William McElroy, who she married on September 7, 2002; four sisters, Evelyn (Ed) Williams of Harrisburg, Monica (Ed) Wierzbicki of Harrisburg, Marie (Alex) Jerev of Carlisle, and Michelle (Scott) Kennedy of Middletown; sister-in-law of Lynn (Dan) Humphreys of Adams Twp. and Robert (Mary) McElroy of Fombell; and aunt of several nieces and nephews. IRENE M. POLAKOVIC Age 91, of West Mifflin on August 10, 2019. She was a daughter of the late Theodore “Frank” and Veronica (Lokay) Matola. Irene was a clerk typist for the government during WWII. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church, West Mifflin and Ascension of Our Lord Church in Clairton. She was a member of the former Holy Trinity Christian Mothers where she was the vice president and program chair lady. A lector for 26 years, and a girl and boy scout leader. She was a member of Chee Chee Kolo Club since its inception. One of the first two women to be on the Holy Trinity School Board and a graduate of Clairton HS class of 1946. Beloved wife of the late Stephen Francis “Pucki” Polakovic; mother of Stephanie (Edward) Glazar of N. MARGARET LYNN BAEHR-PIRSCHL Age 82, of Carrick, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at her home on Friday, August 9, 2019. She is survived by her children, Stephen Pirschl and Christina Pirschl. Margaret was born on October 24, 1937 and raised in her family home in Carrick. She was a graduate of Carrick High School and a lifelong member of St. Basil Parish on Brownsville Road. Margaret loved nature and enjoyed tending to the Hosta and day lilies in her flower gardens. An accomplished equestrian, she had a passion for horses that began in the 1950s when she took riding classes at the Deer Valley YMCA Camp. She also provided riding instruction and later in life always enjoyed going to South Park to feed apples to the horses. A born performer, Margaret Lynn taught her kids how to dance, adoring the energy and culture of Broadway and New York City. A natural beauty with a charismatic smile, as a young adult she found work as a model for print and television and became an accomplished ice skater who would perform with the Ice Capades in Pittsburgh. She also served as director of the Pittsburgh branch of the USO during the Vietnam War, and as spokeswoman for area YMCA's and YMCA summer camps. Margaret was a talented watercolor artist who savored nature scenes and loved to paint every day in addition to being a gifted writer who was working on a manuscript at the time of her passing. A steadfast animal advocate, she also adored her three rescue cats. Margaret's vivaciousness, charisma, quick wit, laugh, poise, and grace will be missed by all. JO R. TREHARNE Age 100, of Franklin Park, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2019. Jo had been a resident of Seneca Manor in Verona for the last three years. She was the loving wife of the late Edwin H. Treharne; mother of the late Carole T. Webster; mother-in-law of the late Logan “Skip” Webster; grandmother of Tracey (Webster) O'Toole and husband, Robert O'Toole of Shadyside and Todd Webster and wife, Leyla Parsa of Clearwater, FL; great-grandmother of Faolan (age four) and Fionn (age one) O'Toole, the greatest joys of her life. Jo was born in Brookville, PA on October 28, 1918. She graduated from high school and briefly attended college. She worked as a beauty shop operator, a realtor and a homemaker. She was a longtime member of Christ Episcopal Church. She enjoyed painting, traveling, music and dance, gardening, gourmet cooking, sewing, playing the organ and was an accomplished golfer. RUTH (EYMAN) PLACE Of Pleasant Hills, passed away on August 10, 2019. Ruth was born in North Charleroi, PA on December 30, 1923. She is survived by her beloved sons, Mark and Rick; grandsons, Chris and James Williams; sister-in-law, Mira (Don) Eyman; sister-in-law, Mary (Ray) Thomas; brother-in-law, Tom (Jean) Place; sister-in-law, Dorothy (Francis) Place, and very many dearly loved nieces and nephews. Ruth and her late husband, John joined The Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church in 1949, where both were very active members in their younger years. In 1952 they founded their company, John P. Place, Inc., that is owned and managed by their son, Mark. Abiding by her request, there will be no visitation. ROSALEE (TOMKO) FECZKO Age 74, of Braddock Hills, on Saturday, August 10, 2019 after a brief battle with lung cancer, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones. Daughter of the late Paul “Putty” and Nicholena “Lena” (Mylo) Tomko; beloved wife of 52 years to Richard William, Sr.; loving mother of Richard William Feczko, Jr., Rachelle Feczko and Rhonda Hastings and her husband, Doug; adoring “Grammy” to Richie, Ryan and Jocelyn; also survived by brother, James W. and his wife, Edna, Paul “Sonny” Tomko and sister-in-law, Elizabeth “Betsy” Tomko as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Rosalee was vibrant and enjoyed a long career in retail as well as Food and Nutrition retail business including work with Revco, Giant Eagle and Morrison Food Services. She always brought a smile to the customers she helped - even the college students when she worked at Duquesne and Point Park. She was a member of the Madonna del Castello Church in Swissvale and enjoyed her time as a bingo caller for Coach Rich 4 Kids, playing with her grandchildren and supporting their sporting events as well as appreciating relaxing time with her husband and children, Rose, as her close family and friends referred to her, was known to take the lead on the dance floor at family weddings and volunteer at her son and grandson's sporting events with various needs. He was born on June 14, 1992, the son of David (Dudenhoefer) Elliott of Pittsburgh and Laurie Elliott of Erie, PA. Chris was an extraordinary athlete enjoying ice hockey, gymnastics, football, roller blading, basketball and martial arts. Chris was an avid fan of Mighty Ducks and The Sandlot. He was an artist and enjoyed drawing graphics and playing sports games. He was preceded in death by a nephew, Jeremiyah “JJ” Elliott, and grandparents, Michael Debelak, Sr., and Martha and James Dudenhoefer. Chris leaves behind three sisters, Lynn of Wilkinsburg, Daley of Pittsburgh, and Lisa of New Brighton; also five brothers, Dan of Quakertown, PA, Evan of New Brighton; and Teddy, Jai and Reese of Pittsburgh; two nephews, Ronald Worthy, Jr. and Reese Elliott, Jr.; and two nieces, Sasha Worthy and Mariyah Elliott, all of Pittsburgh. He is survived by his grandmother, Annette Debelak of Beaver Falls, PA, and a host of relatives and friends who loved him. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Shepherd's Heart Church Fellowship, 13 Pride Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15219 on Wednesday, August 14th. PATRICIA ALICE (HAYES) BRICKER Age 72, of Chippewa Twp., died Thursday, August 8, 2019. Born September 1, 1946 in Oak Park, IL, she was the daughter of the late Alfred R. and Isabelle G. Lester Hayes. Patty was the Valedictorian of Glenbard West High School in Glen Ellyn, IL, Class of 1964 and was a graduate of Bowling Green State University. She was an active member of the Chippewa United Methodist Church. Reading was a passion of hers and she loved her book club. Researching her family's genealogy also brought her joy. Arthritis slowed Patty down but she was supported by a close knit network of kind-hearted friends. She maintained a positive outlook despite her physical challenges. Patty left the teaching profession to raise her sons and provide a warm and loving home for her family. She taught her sons to be good, hard-working people and was endlessly proud of their accomplishments. She loved to talk to strangers and always made friends on planes. Patty had a big heart that loved deeply and she will be sadly missed by her family and all of her friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Judy Specht. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Bonnie Bricker, Chicago, IL, Scott Bricker and Lena Andrews, Pittsburgh, and a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Hans Baier, Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the HILL & KUNSELMAN FUNERAL HOME, 3801 Fourth Ave., College Hill, Beaver Falls. ROBERT J. CURRIE Age 83, of Plum Boro, died peacefully Saturday, August 10, 2019, in UPMC East, Monroeville. He was born June 13, 1936, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late James Currie. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Velda P. Currie. Prior to retiring, Robert was employed as a purchasing agent in the steel industry. He was an Army veteran and a member of the Free and Accepted Masons. Robert will be greatly missed by his devoted son, Robert W. Currie, of Murrysville; and brothers, David Currie, of Slickville, and Bruce Currie, of Florida. He was the proud grandfather of Sean R. Currie and Shannon P. Currie. Family and friends will be received from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday at the VAIA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, 724-468-1177.
