SCHOMBURG MARION M. Of San Jose, CA, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA, on March 13, 2017, age 84. Loving wife of the late W.K. Schomburg; beloved mother of Sharon (Ron) Barrett and Kathryn (Don) Hess; devoted grandmother of Chris and Laura Barrett; sister of Hans Sigurd Petersen and the late Peter C. (Isabel) Petersen; also survived by five nieces and their families. Marion was born on May 16, 1932, to the late Marius Sigurd Petersen and Dorothea Clementsen in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. After graduating as an RN from the Victoria General Hospital School of Nursing, she moved to Boston, MA, where she worked for several years. While in Boston, she met W.K. Schomburg, her future husband, whom she married in 1955. After having two daughters, she retired from her active career in nursing but kept her nursing skills up as a volunteer with various organizations. She resided in Baldwin and later Whitehall from 1963 through 2015. After her husband passed away after 60 years of marriage, she moved to California to be near her daughter. Marion's family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Belmont Village in San Jose for their caring attention to Marion while she lived there. Also thanks to the caregivers of CareIndeed and the hospice staff of Suncrest Hospice, who helped her in her final days. Family and friends will be received on Friday, March 24, 2017, 1 p.m. at the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL, HOME, INC., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236.
