SR. MARY SARA MAGALDI, OSF Age 95, on September 21, 2020. Loving daughter of the late Marco and Matilda Verry Magaldi; sister of the late John and Mary Magaldi. Sister entered the Franciscan Sisters of Millvale on October 3, 1952 from St. Peter's Parish in Brownsville, PA. Prior to her entrance into religious life, Sister worked at various business establishments in Brownsville as executive secretary and stenographer. At the age of 27, Sister desired to use her skills in a different way by becoming a Franciscan sister. Following one year of teaching second grade to a classroom of 70 children at St. Scholastica's in Aspinwall, she spent the next 35 years serving in different positions in the St. Francis Health Care System - as administrative secretary, purchasing director and pastoral care minister. In 2002, she began serving in congregational services at Mt. Alvernia, including volunteer work at Mt. Alvernia Day Care and Learning Center. Over the years, Sister has been described by her sisters as gracious, generous, cheerful, willing to serve others and dedicated to God. Her favorite scripture quote was God is love, and he who abides in love, abides in God and God in him. (1 John 4:16). To those who knew her, she was a woman who relentlessly shared her love of God with others. The world is a better place because of Sara's long life of love and service.
