DeNARDIS RENATO VINCENT On Tuesday, November 20, 2018, Vince, age 90, formerly of Oakwood. Beloved husband for 40 years of Helen DeNardis; loving father of Darlene (Bill) Flaherty, David (Judy) DeNardis, Denise (Park) Warne and Diane (Bob) Eberle and step-father of Connie (Dave) Van Asdale, Gale (Dave) Wassum, Gary (Cindy) Marshall, Tom (Carol) Marshall, Jan (Mike) Tenney, Bill (Diane) Marshall and Chris Marshall; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother of Eda Simonsen, Clara DeNardis, Josephine (Angelo) Amoroso and the late Albert DeNardis. Vince grew up in the Oakwood section of Pittsburgh, where he played on the local baseball and football teams. He was a 1945 graduate of Langley High School. He served as a Corporal in the US Army during the Korean War, where he was a Chaplain's Assistant in the combat zone. Vince returned to Oakwood to raise his family. He went to work for National Valve in Pittsburgh and attended night school at Carnegie Tech for ten years to obtain his BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1966. He retired from National Valve after forty years of service. Vince was an accomplished musician and a life long bowler, and he always had a very wide circle of good friends. He will be greatly missed by his wife, children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Friends received at the HERSHBERGER-STOVER INC. MATESIC JOHN FRANK Age 76, of Coraopolis, on Saturday, November 17, 2018. Loving son of Evans and Lena (Coutriaux) Matesic of Aliquippa; loving husband of wife and soulmate, Susan (Cavanagh) Matesic; siblings, Judy Rellick, Paul (Dan), and Evans, Lou (deceased), Florine Bonialla (deceased), and Diana August (deceased); children from a previous marriage, John, Jr., Sharon; stepdaughter, Michael Ann and Lorraine (deceased), all from Hopewell and Aliquippa; also five grandchildren; a loving niece, Charlotte Lopes; and many other nieces and nephews. John served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1964-1966. He was an avid Steelers Fan. He was a loving and sweet man and will be missed by his church family, his 6th Avenue neighbors, and his little dog, Sparky. PAULOS RAYMOND J. "RAY" Of Moon Twp. Passed away at home with his family at his side. He was born in Pittsburgh July 14, 1942 to the late Mary Kolasa and John Polupchick (Paulos). Ray retired in 2000 with 30 years of service as an Educator and Administrator for Moon High School where he was a Principal. He was a 1960 graduate of McKees Rocks High School, received a BA in 1964 from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill where he played on the football team, he received his master's degree from California University. Ray also coached football at Sto Rocks and Moon High School, did recruiting for Penn State and scouted for the Oakland Raiders Football Team. He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Church where he was on the Pastoral Council and along with his wife Michele served as Bereavement Ministers, taught R.I.C.A. classes and was a Eucharistic Minister. Ray was also on the board of directors at Our Lady of Sacred Heart School, and on the board at Partners for Equality. Surviving him are his wife, Michele Szpuk Paulos; his children, Lynn (Alvin) Kopp of Raleigh, NC and Mark Paulos of Providence, RI; three grandchildren, Megan, Alex and Abby; a sister, Janet (Tony) Della Toffalo of Butler, PA; a brother, Wayne (Dianne) Paulos of Washington, PA. Friends will be received Monday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the COPELAND MOON TWP. KEARNEY JOSEPH D. Joseph D. Kearney, age 42, died along with his fiancée, Kathryn M. Schurtz, 35, in a tragic interstate collision on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, while driving to their wedding in Pittsburgh. Born in Ohio, Joseph grew up in Pleasant Hills, PA and graduated from Seton LaSalle High School in 1995. He was proud to attend Penn State University where he received a Bachelor's degree in marketing, and went on to earn his MBA from University of Maryland.  Joseph was Director, Emerging Technology, at Verizon, where he helped pioneer Verizon's entry into the advertising business. He was most recently focused on integration of Yahoo and AOL with Verizon, a role that exemplified his ability to bring people together and build new products with the company.  As a young man, Joseph achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, which enriched his lifelong passion for the outdoors, especially hiking, cycling, and camping. He will be remembered for his signature style, sense of humor, spontaneity, his exhaustive knowledge of music and sports, and his love for Kate. Together with Kate, he lived in Jersey City, and loved to travel and host their many friends and family. Surviving are his parents, Dennis and Diana (Heinle) Kearney; his siblings, Dr. Julia Kearney and her husband, Marcus Santos, Anna Kearney, Mary Kearney and Peter and Gretchen (Neidert) Kearney; niece, Emilia Dos Santos; and nephew, Cole Kearney.  He is also survived by a large extended family, including 40 first cousins, and friends around the globe who looked to him as a mentor and confidant.  Friends will be received at the JOHN F. HUGHES JOHN WESLEY, JR. On November 22, 2018. Beloved husband of Helena Gerard Hughes; father of Charles S., Kenneth M. and Pamela A. Hughes; son of the late John W. and Hattie Horton Hughes; brother of the late Tom Horton and Cora Hughes; grandfather of Lauren Kenni Marie; brother-in-law of Claudette and Ray Richardson; uncle of Todd Richardson and Sylvester Hughes. An accomplished musician whose love of music and residency at the Pittsburgh Athletic Association was only surpassed by his love of his wife of 60 years, Helena. John composed and performed the hit song "Rambunctious" which he played regularly with the Harold Betters Quartet at the legendary Crawford Grill, Encore, and the Gaslight Club. He will be tickling the ivories with the jazz greats that he played with when began his music career at 16 years old. Upon graduation with a degree in music from Duquesne University, he furthered his education and retired as a mediator from the Justice Department. LUCOT ROBERT J., Sr. Age 85, peacefully, on Wednesday, November 21, 2018, in his Crafton home (formerly of Robinson Twp.) with his beloved wife, Vickie (Nance) Lucot. Preceded in death by his wife, Eileen (Stuthers) Lucot; loving and devoted father of Karen (late Mark) Ganska, Linda (David) Pastorkovich, Robert, Jr. (Lynne), and Paul (Mary) Lucot; and nine grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters; brother of the late Rita Krueger, Dorothy Heinz, Joseph, and Paul Lucot; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Bob was a Korean War veteran with the US Air Force, and also a member of the K of C Chartiers Council 875. A former employee of Contraves Corporation for over 32 years in performance testing and design of electronic instrumentation for use by military and space related organizations on a global scale. Beloved husband of Loretta Simeoni McDermott; and loving father of Terry Cooper (Jeff), Timmy (Geralyn), Tommy (Dana) McDermott, and Tina Walsh (Paul); grandfather of Cassidy, Jeffery, Connor, Casey, Mitchell, Taylor, Shayleigh and Sean; brother of the late William McDermott (Patricia); brother-in-law of Lucy Simeoni and deceased cognato Eddy Simeoni (June); and countless beloved nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and associates here and abroad. KANE PATRICK ROBERT "BOB" Age 81, of Scott Township, on November 23, 2018, passed away peacefully with his family by his side. Beloved husband of Mary Louise (Byrnes) Kane of 56 years; loving father of Karen (Joe) Figura, Robin (Chip) O'Neill, and Danielle (Pat) Camp; loving grandfather of Morgan (Mike), JR, Kailey, Casey, Connor, Austin, Delaney, and Marie; brother of Frances (the late Vince) Profeta, James (Judy), Michael "Bud," Joseph (Frances), Patricia (Jan) Double, and the late Daniel (Louise), William (Shirley, still surviving), Victoria "Ruth" (Mike) Simon, Mary "Kathy" (George, still surviving) Anderson, Thomas, and Paul "Terry" (Donna, still surviving). For more than 50 years, Bob worked in the pressroom at the Pittsburgh Press/PostGazette, where his wife Mary Louise first caught his eye during the 1960 World Series celebration. Bob was an avid bowler with three perfect games under his belt and a die-hard Pittsburgh sports and Notre Dame football fan. In the neighborhood, he was widely known as the local "Mr. Fixit" who gave a friendly wave from his perch on the driveway wall to all who passed. Bob also enjoyed spending time with his siblings and extended family (especially when a card game was involved), he shared his passion for softball with his three daughters during his many years coaching teams in Scott Twp., and he found immense happiness spoiling each of his eight grandchildren. Bob will be sadly missed by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and, friends. Robert is the father of Rhonda (Robert) Law, Robert (Shelly) Joswiak, Lori (Rick) Senft, Lynn (Curt) Coyne, Joseph (Melissa) Joswiak, and Joshua (Lisa) Joswiak; brother of Gordon Joswiak and the late Harry Joswiak; grandfather of Chase, Robbie, Robin, Ryan, Zachary (Lindsay), Ashley, Sarah, Chris (Nicole), Jesse (Jill), Bristol, Braden, and Gunnar; greatgrandfather of Emma, Tristen, Ryan, Remington, Roman, Luciana, Henrik, Zara, Pierre, Brandon, Dominic, Justin, and Adelene. Robert was an award winning, avid gardener who loved the outdoors, hunting, and fishing. Robert proudly served his country during the Korean War as a member of the U.S. Navy. Robert was also a passionate baseball player and coach who will be remembered as a dedicated and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Friends will be received on Monday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at SIMONS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 7720 Perry Hwy., Pittsburgh, PA 15237. BANKS TY'MIR PRINCE Age 5 months, passed away at Children's Hospital on November 18, 2018. Son of Marquita Lynn Rainey and Dalbert TyRone Banks; brother of Jaymarr Shields, Aaron Johnson, Tana-za Tylynn Banks, Anivea Martina Banks, Samauri Smith, Madison Smith; nephew of Javon Mott, Reggie Blount, Christopher Banks, David Banks, Jesse Walker, Jacob Hooper, and Charrise Banks; grandson of Yvonne Dennison and Richard Johnson; and cousin of Christopher Banks. Visitation will be held on Wednesday the 28th of November at BRADY FUNERAL HOME, (across from AGH) from 11-12.
