HASSELL Dr. JOHN ALLEN Age 78, of Zelienople, PA, formerly of Columbus, OH, passed away on Monday, February 22, 2016, while under the care of Passavant Retirement Community in Zelienople. Born July 27, 1937, in Erie, he was the son of the late Clarence and Julia (Sweeney) Hassell. John was a faithful member of St. Stephen's Anglican Church in Sewickley where he enjoyed helping with men's ministry and leading the small groups. He was a research chemist for Battelle Memorial Institute for 20 years and created computer systems for people with disabilities for the Bureau of Vocational Rehab. He was a Penn State Alumni and received his Master's Degree and Ph.D. from Carnegie Tech and Mellon Institute. In his free time, he was an avid fisherman. Above all, he was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Vera (Coburn) Hassell; his son, Paul (Kim) Hassell, of Ambridge; his daughter, Louise (Ron) Logan, of Fredericksburg, VA; ten grandchildren, Victoria, Abigail, Owen, Isabelle, Frantz, Sara, Madeline, Timothy, David and Becky; his brother, Bill (Donna) Hassell, of Erie; his sister, Brenda (Dave) Joslin of Sumter, SC. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2016, at the Seaman Memorial Chapel at Passavant Retirement Community, 105 Burgess Drive, Zelienople, PA 16063. SCHILDKNECHT WILLIAM R., Sr. “Loving husband, father and grandfather,” William R. Schildknecht, 80, of Canonsburg, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2016, in St. Clair Hospital. He was born October 24, 1935, in Braddock, PA the son of Harry O. and Wilma Muir Schildknecht. An active member of Holy Rosary Church in Muse, PA, Bill was a veteran of the United States Army and was stationed in Korea. In 2002, Mr. Schildknecht retired from a career in retail banking that spanned more than forty years. On April 22, 1961, in St. Thomas Church in Braddock, he married Mary Margaret Britanik. Also surviving are a daughter, Karen (Edward) Bittner of Scott Township; and a son, William R., Jr. (Rita Mei) Schildknecht of San Mateo, CA; and two granddaughters, April and Lauren Bittner. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harry J. Schildknecht; and a sister, Betty Hester. Friends will be received from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday in MARIO L. DeANGELO FUNERAL HOME, at 194 East College Street in Canonsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. Friday, February 26, 2016, at Holy Rosary Church in Muse. NOONAN THOMAS Age 94, on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, of Swissvale. Beloved husband of 68 years to Agnes (Kambic) Noonan; loving father of Thomas M. (Cindy Kimmerle), Gerald, Carol Elma, Robert (Melania), Lois (Jonathan) Kepes and Sally Melodia (Robert); dear grandfather of nine loving grandchildren; and three loving great- grandchildren. Thomas was the last of a family of 12. Thomas retired as a wireman from Westinghouse electric Corporation, East Pittsburgh. Thomas served his country proudly in the Army during WWII in the 5th Division, A Battery 449th Artillery Anti-Aircraft Battalion. Served in the European Theatre of Operations which included the Invasion of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge and received five Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart. LYNCH JEANE D. Age 79, of McKeesport, died February 23, 2016, at UPMC McKeesport. Born March 21, 1936, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Gust and Helen (Karas) Skarlis, and beloved wife of the late Peter J. Lynch. While Peter served in the US Air Force, they spent many years traveling the world, which Jeane greatly enjoyed. After settling back in McKeesport, she worked at McKeesport Hospital for nearly 19 years in the medical records department. She was a longtime member of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, where she served on the Board of Directors. She is survived by her sister, Fifi (the late Nicholas) Skezas; nieces and nephews, Helen "Dolly" (David) Whelan, Catherine Lobaugh, Jacob (Rula) Skezas, Constance Skezas, Stacy (Bill) Howell, Stephanie (Tom) Burt, and Dean Skarlis; also survived by many great-nieces and nephews; and her cherished poodle, Zoe. Jeane was a loving aunt to all of her nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Robert (Theodora) and Nikolas Skarlis. Harry was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. His greatest hunting experience was a guided hunting trip to Alaska where he shot a caribou and a grizzly bear.
