ALAN L. LINN At Vero Beach, FL, on Friday, April 19, 2019, Alan L. Linn, age 90, formerly of Shannopin Highlands, Kilbuck Twp, PA. Alan was educated at Clarion University and the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. He served in the Army Air Force and was an associate at the McDonald-Linn Funeral Home for many years. He was a lifetime member of the Allegheny County Funeral Directors Association, North Boroughs Post #116 of the American Legion, and Avalon Lodge #657 F&AM. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Linn; sons, Jeffrey Linn and David Linn (Lyn); grandsons, Andrew and Nicholas Linn. He was father of Gregory Linn (deceased). Friends are invited to a graveside service 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 19, 2019, at West Union Cemetery, Wexford Warrendale Road, Pine Twp. followed by a celebration of life luncheon at the Springfield Grill, 70001 Crider Road, Mars, PA. KAREN (KRAUSE) MURPHY A Loving Wife, Mother, and “Nana.” Karen entered the kingdom of her Lord on July 9, 2019. She passed suddenly due to complications resulting from her long, arduous battle with cancer. Karen was a long-time resident of the Hays section of Pittsburgh. A 1972 graduate of South High School, Karen was best known for her musical accomplishments, both in the entertainment industry and in Catholic liturgy. As a young lady, Karen performed as a vocalist and keyboardist in entertainment venues across Western Pennsylvania. Later, Karen found her true calling when she became a liturgical musician in the Catholic Church. She began that career at Holy Angels Church in Hays during the late 1970s. She then joined the music program at St. Mark's in McKees Rocks and went on to St. Peter's in the South Side. Her religious music career concluded where it all began, as a seasoned organist and choir director. Karen re-joined the music program at Holy Angels as their music coordinator. Karen will be sadly missed by many, whose hearts she affectionately touched with her sweet, melodic voice and that smile - oh, that breathtaking smile - that would light up any room and bring joy to everyone she met. Karen was preceded in death by her mother, Ann Marie Dieterich; father, John Krause; and grandmother, Elizabeth Verrone. Karen is survived by her forever loving husband, Don “Murph” Murphy; son, Christopher Carter (Mari); stepdaughter, April Murphy (Michael); aunt, Rosaleen “Ro” Korpiel; grandson, William “Bubby” Carter; and granddaughters, Elsie “Ellis” Carter and Vivian Tofias. He then went on to receive his masters in Journalism from Point Park College. He was retired at the time of his death. He was a talented writer and enjoyed fishing and tying his own flies. JOANN ELIZABETH (DeLOZIER) PARHAM Passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord on July 13, 2019. A longtime resident of Penn Hills, JoAnn was born to George A. and Verna H. DeLozier in Glencoe, PA, on December 5, 1931. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul R. Parham, whom she married on July 10, 1954. She was a loving and devoted mother to daughters, Debra J. (Thomas) Ruefle, Paula A. (Gary) Hinston, and Nancy L. (Benjamin) Compton; and an adoring grandmother to Melissa (Josh) Spencer, Megan (Jarred) Freeman, Paul Michael (Maria) and Jordan Ruefle, Lauren and Leah Compton, and Emma Hinston. She was the proud great-grandmother to Jacob, Sophia, Liam, Myla and Audrey. She was the sister of James E. (Elaine) DeLozier and Carl A. DeLozier (deceased), and the cherished sister-cousin to Fae Hetrick and many other cousins, nieces and nephews. A graduate of Connellsville High School and Shadyside School of Nursing, JoAnn spent her entire life serving and caring for others in Pittsburgh and mission fields around the world professing her faith and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Later in life she focused her efforts as Founding Director of Sheep, Inc., Health Care Center, a faith-based free clinic serving the medical needs of many while sharing the love of Christ. She enjoyed playing the piano, singing in the choir, reading, and knitting. Friends and family will be received Tuesday, July 16 from 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at CHARLES W. GLENN A. BARNHART, SR. Age 94, of Belle Vernon, formerly of Blairsville, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2019. A son of the late Harry and Mildred Redding Barnhart, he was born in Livermore, PA on January 26, 1925. A resident of Belle Vernon since 1977, Glenn had been a member of the Rehoboth Presbyterian Church. He had been employed as a carpenter for Westinghouse, retiring in 1989. Glenn was a Machinist Mate Third Class with the U.S. Navy Seabee's from 1943 to 1946. He loved gardening and crafting. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Glenn and Tanya Barnhart of West Mifflin and Kenneth and Sharon Barnhart of Hutchinson, PA; his lifelong friend and companion, Edith Scott of Blairsville; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Ruth Trimble of Blairsville and Evelyn and Bud Miller of Latrobe; six grandchildren, Tracy (Brent) Telegdy, Jesse (Jamie) Barnhart, Katie Barnhart, Bobbi Jean Lane, Kenny Barnhart, and Maura Barnhart; and five great-grandchildren, Hanna, Chase, Chyann, Collin, and Scarlette. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Gross Barnhart in 1977. She was a member of Terrace Church of the Nazarene in West Mifflin, where she was their former treasurer and organist, a volunteer at the Salvation Army in Braddock and Missionary President in 2009-2010. She was the beloved wife of the late John W. Healey; mother of Lynette (David) Wahl of West Mifflin, Erin (Diane) Healey of Munhall, Warren Healey of West Mifflin, Brenda Healey of Greensburg, and Andrea (Malcolm) Andress of West Mifflin; grandmother of Steven (Jessica) Healey, Kristen (John) Parise, Kaylyn Andress, Keyshawn Andress and Gregory (Nancy) Wahl; five great-grandchildren. She was born December 9, 1945 in Oneida, NY and worked at Pat Catan's in McKees Rocks, PA for many years. She loved doing crafts and loved her family. She was an amazing mom, daughter, sister and friend and has left a hole in all of our hearts that can never be filled. She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Amy (Liz) Zwawa and Julie A. Beloved husband of 60 years to Ilenor (Stammer) Nale; loving father of Rhonda (Chris) Hellested and Bruce (Debbie) Nale; devoted grandfather of Heather (Ryan) Bowser, Jamie (Cody) McClelland, Kayla Nale, Jess (Brandon) Zegarelli, Rachel Hellested, Brian Hellested; adoring great-grandfather of Donovan, Hallie, Axel, Callan, and one on the way; dear brother of Winifred (Winnie) Nale; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Berton and Velma (Edmonds) Nale. Rich was a proud Army veteran, having served in Korea. He enjoyed many hobbies, including roller-skating, ballroom dancing, photography, camping, and gardening. Rich's proudest achievement was his family, and he always put them first. DALE CHRISTIAN SCHWEMM Age 81, of Stanley, NC passed away on July 8, 2019. Born on November 29, 1937 in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late Harold and Ora Pauline Thorpe Schwemm. Dale served proudly in the United States Navy. He is survived by his loving wife, Kay; children, Ron (Julie), Tami, Laura (Charley) and Doug (Tracy); 17 grand and great-grandchildren and two sisters. Graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 26, 2019 at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, PA.
